Bruce Chandler Libby

Bruce Chandler Libby, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2018 with his wife, RuthAnn by his side. Bruce was born 11/15/1940 in Fargo, North Dakota to Arthur Chandler Libby and Marian Della Rogers Libby.
Bruce graduated from Moorhead High School, Moorhead, MN. He attended North Dakota State University and Minneapolis School of Art and Design before enlisting in the Army. Following a tour of duty in Germany he earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minnesota. He spent his career working in behavioral health, both clinical and management with the culmination of his career as VP of Behavioral Health for Harris Methodist Health Systems, Ft. Worth, TX. In retirement he enjoyed volunteering with several organizations including the AARP Tax Aide Program and SCORE.
Bruce will be remembered for his quick wit, his sharp intellect, sense of humor, insatiable curiosity and his creativity. He had a keen interest in the lives of others and what motivated and inspired them to live the lives they chose. He loved his children and grandchildren and delighted in their achievements and happiness and enthusiastically offered monologues about life's important lessons.
He was a guy who regularly completed the NYT Crossword Puzzle in ink, loved music, especially Dave Brubeck, classical and opera. He always had a cat or two by his side as he read, mostly nonfiction, especially biographies. Bruce spent many happy hours canoeing, backpacking and camping in the Boundary Waters of northern MN, enjoyed playing golf with friends and running marathons. He and RuthAnn enjoyed travelling throughout the US as well as Africa, New Zealand and Europe.
Survivors include his wife, RuthAnn (Aune) of 36 years, Bruce's son, Michael Chandler Libby (Laura), daughter, Anne Elizabeth Libby Cullen (Ross), sister, Margaret Libby Mattison (Donald), grandchildren, Briana, Blake and Bridget Libby, Max and Jake Cullen as well as nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends. He is also survived by RuthAnn's mother, Edla Aune, and siblings, Lorraine Gill (Eric Welsch), Kent Aune (Lupe Carillo), and David Aune. Bruce's previous marriage to Pamela Fischer, the mother of their children, Michael and Anne, ended in divorce.
