Chambre' Thomas Obituary

Chambre' Lynn Thomas "Chammie" 1989 - 2008 "Our Angel from Heaven" returned home on January 24, 2008. Chammie was born May 13, 1989. Her philosophy was "If you talked too much, you really had nothing to say". When she turned 18, she got a butterfly tattoo with the words "Life's Still Sweet". This was her mantra and it embodied the experience that she wanted to create. Chambre graduated from Bingham High School on the National Honor Society and was attending the University of Utah. She loved genuine people and had a passion for helping others. She mentored troubled youth and had a true desire to help them work through their life issues. Her extraordinary focus helped her excel in karate and softball. Chammie was loved so much by so many and will be deeply missed. Survivors include mother, Teresa Devereaux; brother and best friend, Tyler; grandmother (Grammie), Cathy Thomas; father, Shane Dee Thomas; stepfather, Michael Christensen; stepsisters, Cara, Charity and Marci and her special friends: Rachel (Boo), Savannah, Heather, Dawn and Amber (Bam). Special Thanks to Rob Butters at Life Matters Counseling, Jen from Family Services, and our great family and friends. Viewing will be held at January 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road. Funeral Services will held at 11:00 a.m.

Cathy, Teresa & Tyler
I want you all to know how sad it makes me that you have to go through this. There are no words that can help at this time, but the support of family and friends mean alot. Just remember to always cherish all of the memories you have of sweet "CHAMMIE". She would want all of you to live your lives as normal as can be expected from such a tragedy like this. Don't ever let your self pity drag you down so far that you can't recover, and always remember to help each other along each and every day. It has been so awesome to have such a great friend as Cathy has been to me and my family. She is an amazing person and so caring of everyone's feelings. She can brighten your day just by hearing her voice. May god and Chammie give you all the strength you need as you struggle through these hard times. Teresa it was great meeting you and exchanging our stories, I would love to hang out sometime. You can email me anytime and we can chat that way too. Tyler is a great kid and it was evident that he was Chammie's best friend and confidant.
Love you all, CALLY MIGLIACCIO

We just received the sad news about Chambre' from our children; Heidi and Cory Olsen. We want you to know our thoughts and prayers are with you as we serve our mission here in Australia, and can not be there with you at this time. We are told that time will heal hearts and all things, but one has to wonder how long it will take when such a beautiful person leaves the heart so broken. Know that our Heavenly Father will hold her in His arms and will give you peace if you put your trust in Him. We must look forward to being together again with those we love.

Chambre was one of the most driven girls I have ever met. We attended numerous classes together through Junior High as well as High School. We were the trouble makers in our senior Spanish class. We talked through every class period about philosophy, humanitarian work, politics, and life in general. I felt we had so much in common. She was honestly an inspiration to me and never failed to make me smile. I will miss her dearly and all of my love goes out to her wonderful friends and family.

Dear Tee, Tyler and Family, please accept my poem for Chambre as my Love for you. I will always live my life as a better person, a better husband, a better father, a better relative, and a better friend, because I have loved you Chambre, and because you have loved me too.

I promise to live and learn, I promise to remember you always, to be an example for others, and to honor your memory and your life as you would want me to.

When you walked into the light,
Were you given a chance to make things right?
When God came to take you away,
Did you ask him if you could stay?
Did you look him in the eye?
And tell him that you did more than try!
Were you given a chance to see all of the friends you had made?
Did you see all of your loved ones crying for you that wished you had stayed?
Your time here with us was just not enough.
We long for your smile, your laugh, your eyes, your touch.
Now a place in heaven is saved for you that you deserve.
Because your time here on earth proved that you served!

Now imagine for a moment that your time could be near.
And love God, yourself, and the ones that are dear!!
Our worldly influences and beliefs can lead us astray.
Angels talk, and we don’t listen, they pray for us on this glorious day.
Our Lord gave us Life, our Spirit, his Grace, and a plan with him.
Today, we feel comfort here with the others, as we celebrate for Chambre!!!
Try to remember all of her greatness when she walked here on this earth.
She was innocent, unconditional, and untainted at her birth.
Now once again, her slate is clean, and she has returned to heaven!
It is the time of reckoning, of forgiving, and remembering where we all came from.
To be grateful for the moments we have spent with her, and to remember we are not alone.
Our time here is so precious, and it is unknown when God will come to take us home.
So Love one another like never before as a mortal being, and have Love for all eternity!

I Love You Chambre,

Uncle Rion

Chambre had a lot of light in her eyes, a lot of light in her spirit and a lot of potential. she was a sweet, upbeat young lady... I didn't know her very well, but she was so effective that what little I did know about her.... stuck with me. she will always be in my heart and memories.. God bless her kindred soul... for he blesses the kindest of hearts and the children.... may God bless her family with peace and understanding...

chambre was loved and appreceated by those who refered to themselves as friends & family. Cham, as the days pass by, the more we continue to mourn for your loss. I know right now you are looking down apon us and even as you are gone, it seems as though you are still here. I know it will be hard to not see your smileing face at family reunions, or here your laughter. To those who are mourning for her loss, and having trouble finding joy in life. Think about what you would wan't to see if you were looking down from the heavens, like her, you would wan't to see your loved ones enjoying the time they have on this earth. So take the time to look up and smile, knowing that she is looking down apon you, smileing back.

We wouldn't feel so much grief if we hadn't loved so much. To love someone so dearly is a precious gift. That is why our hearts ache for all of you at this time. It is so difficult to say good bye. The memories we have of Chambre were of her beautiful smile and cute sense of humor. We know our Heavenly Father is with all of you and will comfort you throughout your lives as your hearts are filled with sorrow and emptiness. God be with you.

Chambre'always made me smile up until the last time I saw her on Wednesday. I loved Chambre's ability to be so upfront and tell it exactly how it is, that's why I loved talking to her! I will remember our summer hike and her excellent leadership skills. I will always remember Chambre' and the way she touched my life and brought a smile to my face.

For Chambre's family, I hope that time will heal your pain and that Chambre's memory will live strong.

Chambre' wherever you are I hope that life is sweet and that you are in peace. I know you will continue to do great things and impact other's lives the way you touched so many of the girl's lives.

It's hard to comprehend that one week ago I wrote a letter of recommendation for Chambre for acceptance into the Social Work program at The University of Utah...

Although Chambre did not have the opportunity to fulfill her desires of helping others on this Earth, I believe she will have the chance where she is now.

I feel so fortunate to have known this amazing person. Chambre had a rare gift: she could accomplish a lot, without saying much. As it said in her obituary, she did not like a lot of talk, because she was a do-er. She was genuine, and when she did speak, it mattered.

Thank you, Teresa for the opportunity to know your daughter. I will never forget her. She loved you so much, and spoke to me of many happy memories with her mom. You made many sacrifices for her that she truly appreciated.

Cathy, your relationship meant so much to Chambre. You were a confidant and friend, as well as a grandmother. She always looked forward to her time with you.

Tyler, we only met a few times, so I really only know you through Chambre. You need to know that in her eyes you are the greatest brother in the world. You were always someone she could talk to, and she wanted you to be happy more than anything.

This world has suffered a big loss by losing Chambre; I know I have.

Thank you Chambre, for letting me into your world. I'm so proud of the person you became, and that will never change.

Love, Jen

Cathy and Family, recently, we had 3 deaths in our family. My mom, Michele's nephew and Michele's mother in law. We all know how you are feeling. There are no words of comfort in a time like this. It hurts and that is that. To your whole family, don't be afraid to be sad and cry if you want. Let your feelings be and remember each person feels differently. We all have to go on and it seems like we can't but we can. Tears help to wash away the hurt a little. Let them flow and try to remember the good times. My aunt Babs says " Linda when you need to cry, tip your head back and sing at the top of your lungs. You will forget to cry!" I am deeply saddened at your loss Cathy!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

What a beautiful angel! I have several special memories of Chambre. I remember once she built stilts with Jackie and they practiced and performed a 'stilt show' for their talent at Young Women's...they laughed through the whole thing. Chammie also did the funniest thing when she would mimic a girl from a show and she would put her hands under her arms and say, "when I get really nervous, I do this". I remember what a great sense of humor Chambre had...she was always making me laugh. I especially remember decorating her room one year for her birthday. She wanted a tropical/beach room, so when she was out of town, I was asked to sneak over to her room and redecorate. I had so much fun doing that for her! Lastly, I remember watching her play softball. She was a great catcher and seemed to have so much passion when she would play. I have thought a lot about Chammie and her family over the last couple of days, but most of all, I have thought about my dear, sweet friend Teresa. I love you so much! You're the kind of friend that even if we don't see or talk to each other for awhile, when we do it's as though we've talked every day and we pick up right where we left off. I always want to be that kind of friend for you...I am here for you ANY time - day or night. I love you, sweetheart!
