Dear Elna and Family,
We were in Idaho when we lerned of the accident that took Tads life. We are so sorry for the pain and difficulty of that event.
Lloyd and I did not have the opportunity to rub shoulders often with your family but we always had a high regard for the two of you. You obviously have touched many lives, including ours.
As we traveled the road back to Oregon we reflected on how blessed we are to have the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation. Mortality is but a moment and then what a joyful reunion there will be!
We love you and send our prayers and best wishes. Lloyd and Ella Colvin

Dear Elna and family,
We were so saddened to hear about Clarence's death. I was in Nevada helping my daughter, so I couldn't attend the viewing or the funeral, but you both have been on my mind. Both you and Clarence have spread love, compassion and leadership wherever you are. Our ward was enriched by your love and your enthusiasm. We were blessed to get to know your daughters and grandchildren. Clarence taught Colby and his rowdy classmates and in spite of it all, they learned much from both of you. (Now that Colby is Young Men's president, he really appreciates the love and patience you had with that class.) Elna, you were a compassionate and capable Relief Society President. You both have continued to come to celebrations and funerals of people in the ward even though you have been gone for several years.
We count ourselves blessed to have had you in our lives. I know that the hole Clarence has left will be felt by many. Please accept our love and condolences at your loss. We hope that the others were not seriously injured in the accident and are recovering physically, although we know the emotions will be tender for a long time.
You have shown us all how to bear up in difficult times. May God bless you in yours.
Much love,
Susan & Richard Walter

I remember Bishop Campbell when I was in the Taylorsville 8th Ward. He was a great example and had a wonderful family. I went to school with Scott and Peggy and they were great people. My prayers are with your family at this sad time.

Elna and family, we have been out of town and upon our arrival at home we were informed of the accident. We are so sorry for your tragic loss. President Campbell was such a wonderful, humble man. The Lord must have special plans for him at this time. President Campbell gave me my patriarchal blessing, and I'll never forget the spirit that I felt through his words. He was a glorious servant of our Lord. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Christi, Peggy, and Scott we just heard about your father and we wanted to offer our deepest sympathies for such an unexpected and tragic loss in your lives. We are very grateful, however, the accident wasn't worse considering how many others were involved. We hope time will help heal your broken hearts. Our boys fondly remember him as "Josh's very cool grandpa" and mentioned they loved to spend time with him. Although we didn't get to personally know him, from reading about him he sounds like he was absolutely wonderful and a great blessing to you all. Your families have been in our prayers and we wish you the best always.
Love,

Dear Campbell family. You probably do not know me, but I am the eldest daughter of Bob Brockett, who was met Clancy through work but became a friendship. It is with my deepest condolences that I send this note. My dad and I spoke of Clancy this evening. I only met him once but he made an impact on me that I will never forget. I can almost hear his voice in my mind. He was a gentle and happy man who struck me as being incredibly charismatic and warm. He is going to an incredible place that will be even more so with him there. No doubt he is smiling from above and watching over his family with pride and love. Sincerely,
Jim McDonald

What a great Mission President and a great man President Campbell was. I learned a lot from this great man. I still remember him telling us missionaries, "A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still" I use this advice to this day. I love you Sister Campbell and our hearts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Love you always. Jim McDonald.

Dear Elna,
With heavy hearts (Tho'also mingled with fond memories), we reach out to you to express our sincere condolences on the passing over of our dear friend Clancy. Fondly, Judy and I recall our visit with the two of you in
Los Angeles and often reminisce of the good times we shared on our Lake Powell adventure. My personal memories of Clancy stretch back to the early 70's when we first met. Beginning then, and stretching forward for several decades, this kind and gentle man became my mentor---not only on the then infant Cambelt, but also on the teachings and philosophy of his beloved LDS. Although saddened by his untimely departure, I, like so many other lives he touched, feel enriched and honored to have known him. May you, Elna, have your heart be lightened and walk forward in comfort and peace.

Aunt Elna, I am sad to hear about Uncle Tad's passing, and I will miss him. He was always very kind to me, and I remember that he always joked about adopting me so that he could have a brown-eyed granddaughter. I'm sorry I wasn't able to come to the funeral, since I live in Texas now, but know that I am thinking about and praying for you and your family. Love, Monica (Fong) Bingham

My Dearest Sister Campbell, I want you to know how much I love you and Pres Campbell. Truly he was more of a father to me then any other man in my life. I love him and am proud to have served under him in the C.L.A.M. I know you know how I feel and I am honored because of the time the two of you took just a few short weeks ago to spend with me and some of my kids. It will always mean so much to me. What a great comfort the two of you have been in my life these past few years when I have gone through some rough times. I Love you and honor him forever. May the power of the Atonement bring you peace and comfort at this time. Love Pam (Sister Dunn)Gifford

Elna,I'm so sorry about the loss of your dear sweet husband. He was a wise and kind man. Not many men would smile when a big group of rowdy girls invaded his home for the night and also made us all feel welcomed and loved. You are a great woman and he, a great man.

Sister Campbell and Family,
We are so saddened to hear of the passing of President Campbell. He will surely be missed and remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May the Lord bless you all with the peace and comfort that only He can provide. I have recounted some great memories of President Campbell during this week and am greatful for the strong servant and preisthood holder that he is. HIs example will continue to bless the lives of us all and his counsel as expressed by his grandson will no doubt always be a simple truth to follow. "We must overcome (the natural man) to become who we are meant to be. God has the power to turn all things for our good. And we need to just keep moving "Onward & Upward". "
Sincerely,

If I had to pick the two most formative years in my life, they would be the two years I spent under President Campbell's tutelage. He was a great man, a great leader, and a great friend. I made many life-long friends on my mission, and the love and respect I had for President and Sister Campbell has never waned these past 25 years. I am sad he has gone, but thankful for the life lessons he and Sister Campbell taught me as a young missionary.

Dr Sister Campbell, the news of Pres. Campbell's passing has dampened my spirit, but has also provided sacred opportunities for reflection on days gone by. It's impossible to think of one's mission without thinking of the two of you. That's how essential you were to me and other impressionable spirits trying to find themselves while serving the Lord. The words of Charles Sumner ring true here, "So when a great man dies, for years beyond our ken, the light he leaves behind him lies upon the paths of men." And may I add "In our hearts for all eternity." You are remembered in our prayers and may you know of my love for you and your family during this most sacred time. Ofa Atu (love always)

Sis. Campbell, My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. Faith told me the news as I walked in the door tonight. I am deeply saddened at this loss, yet Pres. Dear Sister Campbell: The time I served with you and President Campbell in the California Los Angeles Mission remains a highlight of my life. During the first road trip I took with you President Campbell complained that his lip hurt because you forgot to remind him to put medicine on it. It was then I realized he would be lost without you. Yours was a wonderful husband and wife relationship I was blessed to watch up close for an entire year. Sister C., you could put on a clinic for new wives about how to raise and gently train a righteous husband and priesthood leader. I’m pleased to have known your great husband for the past 25 years and sad to know you’ll be without him for even a moment. Love, Sister H.
