Beaver, UT-Colleen Moore Gurr passed away peacefully on her 64th wedding anniversary at her home in Beaver, Utah June 5, 2012 of complications associated with Parkinson's disease at age 84. Colleen was born to LeRoy and Venice Moore on September 19, 1927 in Parowan, Utah. She was the 5th of 10 children, Rollin, Mathel, Marjorie, Dan, Beverly, Bruce, Gen, Karolyn and an infant Joe who died at birth. Colleen grew up on a farm in Parowan, Utah and later moved to Salt Lake City where her dad owned and managed apartments. She later graduated from West High School. Shortly thereafter they were married in the St. George Temple on June 5, 1948. Colleen and Heber lived in Parowan where they raised two girls and four boys, Kathy, Debbie, Rick, Greg, Curtis and Lory. She was an excellent seamstress and made many of the clothes for her children and grandchildren. Her many skills included knitting, crocheting, cooking, and raising children. She had a profound sense of humor that followed her to her death.
In 1984 Colleen and Heber were called to serve a micro filming LDS mission in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area for 18 months. Colleen was active in the LDS Church serving in the Relief Society and Primary Presidencies as well as a teacher and many other assignments throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was greatly loved by her family who never missed a chance to visit her on special occasions or just to drop by to say hello and enjoy her company.

Deann said it better than anything I could have said. To the Gurr family, With the passing of your mom. grad-mother, she is an extended part of my family. I have always enjoyed our small visits with her and Heber as we traveled back an forth throught California and Utah. I always told her how much her and my mom looked alike. She was always so warm to my family as she always welcomed us into her home. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Aunt Colleen, I will miss you very much. You were a very special person in my life. I have truley enjoyed the visit with you over the years. I do have an understanding of the plan of salvation.
