Con Brady Obituary

Con H Brady
1930 ~ 2014
Con H Brady, 84, of Highland, died of kidney failure at the Veterans Home in Payson, Utah, on March 27, 2014.
He was born in Fairview, Utah, on March 6, 1930, to Cyrus Heber and Eva Allowee Anderson Brady. He grew up in Provo and Ephraim, and married Mary Ellen Nelson of Moroni in the Manti Temple on August 15, 1950. They have three sons: Frederick Ray, Paul Louis, and John Kay.
In May 1951 Con was drafted into the U.S. Army. He qualified for Officers Candidate School and graduated thirteenth in his class of 230 men. He served during the Korean War as an infantry training officer at Camp Cooke, California, and Fort Lewis, Washington, and afterward in the Army Reserve as a company commander. After his discharge, he graduated from Brigham Young University and became a history and political science teacher at Orem High School. Except for one year at Samuel Ayer High School in Milpitas, California, he spent his entire teaching career in the Alpine School District, working as assistant principal at Orem High, then as principal at American Fork Junior High, American Fork High, and the Peterson School for the Handicapped. While in Orem, he also served as president of the Scera Corporation and as a bishop counselor in a student ward at BYU. He was well known and highly respected throughout Utah as a school administrator and was popular with his students. He retired in 1985 and spent the rest of his life restoring classic cars, for which he won many awards. He also loved camping, sports and music, and was a fine athlete and trumpet player in his younger years.
Con is survived by his wife of 63 years, his three sons, his older brother Gale A. Brady of Santa Maria, California, eleven grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and older brother Boyd H. Brady.
His family wishes to thank the Stonehenge care center and the Veterans Home for the excellent care they provided in his last months. They especially thank good friends Dr. Von Welch, former bishop Plinio Pimentel, stake president Howard Bangerter, and a great many other friends, doctors, nurses, and former students whose care and visits made Con last years happy ones.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 11:00 am in the Highland 18th LDS Ward Chapel, 4679 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah. Family and friends may call Friday, April 4, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home Chapel, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah and also on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Dear Mary, John, and the rest of the family. I hope you know how much your husband/father meant to me. He hired me at AFHS, and he fully supported my program. He cared so much for each teacher, staff member, and student. I have anjoyed the privilege of maintaining our friendship since he left AFHS, too.

Isn't it nice to know that the gospel is true and that there is a life after this one.

God bless you all,
Neil Johnson
