Dan Slaughter Obituary

Dan Ross Slaughter  My beloved husband of 52 years and our father and grandfather passed away on Nov. 11, 2002, after a valiant battle with cancer.  Dan was born July 21, 1927 to Steve Andrew and Elizabeth Aeschimann Slaughter. He married Vondell Whitlock on Sept. 15, 1950. They had five children. Dan graduated from Jordan High School, the University of Utah with a science degree and additional 60 graduate hours. He received a full scholarship to the University of Oregon with a masters degree in mathematics plus 35 hours.  Dan served two years in the U.S. Navy. He taught math in Granite School District for 31 years and University of Utah. He loved staying fit by jogging, walking, and working in his garden. The past 10 years he has been very happy raising his Champion Arabian horse, Koriadni.  He is survived by his wife, Vondell; daughters, RuLean (Ken) Gray, Dannie (Dave) King; sons, Blake (Chantell) and Donell (Martha) Slaughter; grandchildren, Jamie, Dustin, Andrea, Christopher, Daniel, K.C., Sierra, Brennon, Little Jake; sisters, Betty Ruth Morrow, Dorothy Lou Swenson, Lillian Griffiths. Preceded in death by son, Cory James Slaughter; granddaughter, Toni Dawn King.  Funeral services Friday, Nov. 15th, 2 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 S. in Sandy, where friends and family may call on Thurs. from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday 1 hour prior to the services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
