Delwin Taggart Pond

Cottonwood Heights, UT-Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Delwin Taggart Pond, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2025, just hours before his 92nd birthday, surrounded by his family.

Born in Lewiston, Utah, to Martin Harris Pond and Valeria Laird Taggart, Delwin was a lifelong learner with a deep love for God, family, and community. He was raised on a dairy farm and, after the early loss of his father, was profoundly influenced by his mother's faith and resilience.

Delwin served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission and later earned degrees from Utah State University and the University of Utah Law School. He married the love of his life, Kathryn Brown Maughan, in the Logan Utah Temple on September 20, 1957. Together they raised a large and loving family, including biological, adopted, and foster children.

A dedicated attorney, Delwin found great joy in family law and adoption work. He was also deeply involved in refugee support through Catholic Charities and other organizations. He served faithfully as bishop of the Butler 28th Ward and later as a missionary in Cambodia, the Philippines, and Salt Lake City.

Delwin is survived by his wife Kathryn, their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James.

Services will be held at 8100 Top of the World Dr, Cottonwood Heights, UT with the funeral Saturday, June 28, at 1:00 p.m. and viewings Friday, June 27, from 6–8 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund or Catholic Charities.
