Elden Bartholomew Obituary

Elden (Eldon) Bartholomew 1920 ~ 2005 Elden Bartholomew, 84, passed away in his home July 17, 2005. He was born September 1st, 1920 in Fayette, Sanpete County, Utah to Floyd Bartholomew and Pearl Larsen Bartholomew. He married Lena Roberts in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity on February 17th, 1939. Elden was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various church callings including Elder's Quorum President, Ward Sunday School President, a member of the Stake High Council, and counselor in the bishopric. He served with his wife and eternal companion on two missions for the church; the first in Cardston, Alberta in the Temple Visitors Center; the second in the Mesa, Arizona Temple Visitors Center. Elden and Lena also served as Provo Temple ordinance workers. He served in the National Guard and then in the Navy in the Pacific in World War II. He has worked hard all of his life doing many things including farmer, rancher, cowboy, baker and butcher. He raised his family on a farm and ranch and said that "it was the best investment I'd ever made, not because of any money I took in from it because I don't think I ever made a dime farming but I raised the finest boys that there are in this world." Elden is survived by his wife and sweetheart of more than 66 years, Lena of Springville, Utah; their daughter AnnaLee Chamberlain (Lee), of St. George, Utah; and three sons, Michael (Barbara) of Springville, Utah; Darrell (Lois) of Clayton, North Carolina; and Steven (Susan) of Springville, Utah. Sheldon (Linda), his oldest son, passed away August 4th, 1980 on a lake in northern Manitoba, Canada and was surely there to greet Elden at his passing. Elden has 39 grandchildren and 78 great-grandchildren; he is survived by a numerous and righteous posterity who love and miss him. Elden was the fifth of 13 children; he was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Dwight, and Oral; and by his sisters, Hettie, Ora, and Pearl. He is survived by his brothers, Wayne, Owen, Gail and Dan, and by his sisters Vivian, Vera, and Miriam. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 1965 East Canyon Road in Springville. There will be a viewing Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and Wednesday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the services. I don't know Elden, but he looks like such a fine man. What a great smile. Sorry for your loss, but reading the obiturary, it is clear to see that you will only be separated from him for a little while.

I hope that Heavenly Father may be with you during this difficult time!
