Enid Rosalie "Skip" Reese

1928 ~ 2024

Enid Rosalie "Skip" Reese, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and dear friend moved onward to the next phase of her life, eager to greet the Savior. She was born on March 21, 1928, the 7th of 9 children born to beloved parents Louis Lorenzo and Nettie Mary Abter Reese. She was raised on the family farm in Cherry Creek Idaho where she learned the value of hard work. She attended a one room Elementary School in Cherry Creek where she loved being taught by her Brother Dale. She graduated from Malad High School in 1946.

In 1955 she was called to serve an LDS Mission in the Great Lakes where she met and baptized many families who she kept in touch with throughout her life. After this mission she attended the University of Utah where she majored in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She completed a Master's Degree Program and received a Teacher Training Certificate. She was employed at the Ogden School for the Deaf and Blind where she made many lifelong friends; her students whom she adored kept in touch with her all her life. During this time, she also taught Seminary and she was invited to become the Principal.

She was recruited by Dr. Tom Clark, professor at Utah State University, to help develop an Early Intervention Program to assist parents of deaf children. She loved this work and helped to replicate the program throughout the United States. In 2000 she received the Legacy Award from the School for the Deaf and Blind.

During this time Skip was called to serve on the General Board of YWMIA for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, under the direction of sister Florence Jacobson. She was a powerful influence for good among the young women in the stakes throughout the church.

After retiring in 1995 she was called to serve in the Ukraine Doneske Mission. She loved her work and served with many Russian and Ukrainian Sisters. In 1998 she was called to serve in the Russian Yeravan Armenia Mission. She has made many lasting friendships through her love and service on these missions.

Upon returning home she was called to serve an LDS Church Service Mission in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. She became a Supervising Sister and served on the mission until 2009.

Skip began serving in the Ogden Community which she loved. She was called to be on the Ogden Centennial Committee, the Ogden Safety Committee, the Legislative Council, the 24th of July Parade Committee and the Christmas Village Committee. She adored being Mrs. Claus, a position she held for 12 years. Skip love our Pioneer Heritage and served as Captain of Nob Hill DUP Camp for many years.

Skip was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Lorenzo and Mary Abter Reese, her sister Eva May Yearsley, her brothers, Dale Lorenzo Reese, LouDell Reese, and RayDon Reese. She is survived by her brother J. Dee and his wife Joyce and many beloved nieces and nephews and her friend and roommate Brenda Thorne.

This world has lost a beautiful soul. She was beautiful in and out, and she was witty, wonderful and wise. She had a heart full of love for all!

Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Rushton Heights Ward, 1550 Ruston, Ogden, UT. Viewings will be held at the church on Thursday, Feb. 8th from 6 – 8 pm and Friday prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden.
