Erin Magleby
1958 -2025
- Our sweet Erin returned to Heavenly Father on August 13th, 2025. She was surrounded and comforted by her family in her final moments after her valiant eleven year fight with endometrial cancer. Despite trials, she continued to live a very full and lovely life. Ultimately, complications of her battle lead to her passing.
Erin (McCormick) Magleby was born in Salt Lake County, Utah on March 27th, 1958 to Henry and Wanda McCormick. Her childhood was filled with magic. She spent her days on two-acres in Cottonwood running a mud pie bakery, walking the irrigation ditches, and playing with her Tami doll. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1976 and was forever proud to be a Colt. After graduation, she attended the University of Utah studying broadcast journalism. While at the University, she began working full time at Valley Bank eventually becoming a Bank Officer in the Proof Operations Department.
Erin met her soulmate and the love of her life, Dr. Bruce Magleby, on a blind date. She was immediately smitten. They married on June 14th, 1986. From the beginning, it didn't matter what they were doing, as long as they did it together. They always simply liked being with each other. They welcomed three children. She filled their childhoods with magic. She got to live her dream being home with them. She was quick to include them in all she did, listened intently, accepted them completely, and made them feel special. They each think they were her favorite child.
Erin's greatest treasures in life became her six lively grandsons! She loved each of them individually and devoted every moment to them, including always having mini ice cream cones on hand. The boys loved to play with their Grandma! They brought her the greatest magic.
Erin was the glue to our family. Regardless of how she felt, she sought to enrich the lives of others. Through countless carpools in her gold minivan, constant caretaking, and personal sacrifices, Erin naturally embodied what it means to be selfless. Over the years, she supported her family in all of their endeavors. She had a humble heart of gold never expecting anything in return. Her life was filled with joy in all things including vacationing with family, pink flowers, going on walks, tootsie rolls, BYU football, reading, themed parties, immaculate gift wrapping, and making the everyday feel like magic.
Erin is survived by her husband Bruce Magleby, three kids Melissa (Taylor) Hendershot, Brandon (Kaitlyn) Magleby, Kirsten (Griffen) Clayton, grandsons (Larsen 3, Cameron 3, Liam 2, Hans 2, Oliver 1, Anders 9 months), brother S. Michael (Dolly) McCormick, sister MaryEllen (Ken) Schuman, brother in law Karl (Margaret Fischel) Magleby, sister in law Marie Magleby and many adoring nieces and nephews. Erin was preceded by her parents Henry M. and Wanda E. McCormick, her father and mother in law Frank L. and Theresa Magleby, and her brother in law Jim Magleby. Our beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend will forever be missed and always remembered.
