Frances Glauser Obituary

Frances Glauser "Loving Mother" Frances Matilda Gleich Glauser, age 92, passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Friday, April 18, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was born April 24, 1915, in Salt Lake City, the second child of Ludwig Gleich and Matilda Wihelmine Schirmeister. She graduated from West High School in 1932, and married Frederick Glauser August 14, 1940, in the Salt Lake Temple. At the age of 19 she was called to be a counselor in the YWMIA. Through the years she served as a teacher, counselor and president in the Primary and Relief Society of the McKay Ward in Salt Lake City. In March 1951 her husband Fred was called to be the president of the German Speaking LDS Organization. A highlight for her during this time was being an ordinance worker in the first German Language sessions held in the Salt Lake Temple. Frances made friends easily, was optimistic and enjoyed life socializing, traveling, and walking in the mountains. She was grateful for the association and loyalty of many beloved friends with whom she worked and served. She enjoyed the comfort of being in the home that she and Fred created. It was located between the homes of her mother and in-laws. Her family was most important in her life and she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Over the years, she has received much support, affection, and love as we have happily involved her in our lives. Frances is survived by her five children: Rosemarie Johnson (Don K.), Clearfield; Frederick P. (Marilyn), Sandy; Anthony F. (Carolyn), Sandy; Dorian E. (Kathryn), Salt Lake City; Lawrence W. (Marietta), Bountiful; 26 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five half-sisters, and one half-brother, brother, Nephi, niece, Joyce, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral at the mortuary. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery. Condolences at www.larkincares.com

Dear Family,

We love Aunt Frances and want you to know that our love and prayers are with you all. It has been a blessing to us to have been in town for the past six years so we could be in touch with her. She always had that big smile and was so grateful for every small thing done for her. We always came away cheered up whether visiting her in person or by phone. She is a great lady. We are comforted to know of the happy reunion on the other side.

Love to you all,

My husband, Emmanuel Ballstaedt, was one of those early Brasilian missionaries with Fred. We so loved Fred and Francis through our years of association with that group of missionaries. Please accept my love and condolenses on the loss of a very sweet and kind woman. Thankfully you know you will be with her again.
