HENRY HINTZE Obituary

Henry Sears Hintze "A Quiet Disciple" Henry Sears Hintze, 90, passed away Friday, November 13, from liver failure. He was born February 11, 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Henry Herriman Hintze and Ethel Irene Sears. He married Thelma Elizabeth Korous on June 27, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple. He grew up on a farm in the small town of Elberta, Utah. He loved to recount stories of living there with his eight brothers and two sisters. As a teenager his family moved to Taylorsville, Utah. He graduated from Granite High School in 1939. He served a mission to the Central States Mission from 1940-1942, after which he joined the Navy during World Wart II and was stationed in San Francisco. During his time there he served his fellow LDS GI's by helping plan dances and activities for them as they passed through the busy port. After the war was over he met and married his sweetheart, Thelma. They raised their family in Taylorsville among good friends and family. He and Thelma served a mission to Santa Rosa, CA, from 1989 to 1990. He also served in both the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. He was a gentle man of even temper, good humor and unaffected friendliness. He leaves behind many good friends and a family who adored him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, and siblings Harold, Gene, Jane, Alan, Keith, Lyle, Wendell, and Janice. Survived by brothers, Wayne Ray. Also by children: Ted (Nancy), West Valley City; Pauline (Norman) Butterfield, and Louise (Craig) Elison, West Jordan; Jerry (Jill), Oak City; Joel (Nancy), St. George; and Connie (Kevin) Reece, Elk Ridge; 27 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. A special thanks to his wonderful, caring neighbors, friends, and relatives who watched out for him and visited him during his illness. Also thanks to Hearts for Hospice, especially his nurse Joe and CNA, Chris, who cared for him so tenderly. He was a blessed man passing into the next life knowing he was loved. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 18, 11 a.m at the Riverview Ward, 1325 West 5550 South, Taylorsville. A viewing will be held Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Wednesday at the church, 9-10:45 a.m. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park.

Pauline and Norman - we were blessed to get to know you and your family in West Jordan, then moved to Bennion and grew to love your parents. I first grew to love them when they were our camp parents one year I was the camp director. They enjoyed the girls and played along with everything we did. They even took special care of an exhausted camp leader, letting me sleep in there motor home with them. Then Henry taught my oldest daughter and her finance the temple prep classes in three weeks, being so willing to accommodate their schedules and teach two lessons at a time. I loved going to your parents home. They were always making things for the grandkids - such love, warmth, and peace were felt in their home. After Thelma's passing I looked forward to giving Henry a hug. I would seek him out in a store, a church meeting, or anywhere we happed to bump into each other. He gave great HUGS! Just this sunday I was telling the kids that Bro. Hintze was not well and I wanted to go give him one more hug. A kinder more loving man I have never met. He will be missed, as I know you will all miss him - I am happy he is with his sweetheart once again! Your are all in our thoughts and prayers.
With love - Teresa and Byron Bateman

Dear Norman and Pauline and family. I am sorry for your loss. I sure loved living by the Hintze's growing up, they were such a wonderful couple. Br. Hintze was always so kind to my father Calvin. When my dad found out that he was passing, he cried, we just laid to rest his dear wife Ruby and now he feels all of his friends are leaving him. He was such a wonderful man to always go see my father, never preaching, just friendshipping. He will be missed, our prayers are with you.

Dear Norman, Pauline and family,

I was sorry to learn of the passing of Brother Hintze. I will always remember him for his kind friendly smile and cheery hello as he made his daily deposits at the bank. He leaves a great legacy and and a wonderful family as he has been reunited with his eternal companion in preparing the way for each of you to join them in the eternities. Uncle Henry was a great man. I will miss his smile and hugs. We are all blessed to have come from good parents who also had good parents. I know you will miss him, but he had a long happy life and you all made him proud. I am leaving for Hong Kong on Tuesday, so will miss the funeral, but know that I will be with you in spirit. Love to you all Deanne Hintze Madsen(Harold's)
