Jacob Jorgensen Obituary

Jacob Gale Jorgensen 1974 ~ 2004  Jacob Gale Jorgensen, one of our Father in Heaven's most choice sons, passed away tragically in a mining accident and is now about his Father's Work, on January 22, 2004. Beloved husband, father, son, and brother, who will be missed by all who knew him. Jake was born in Price, UT on May 22, 1974 to Allen Gale and Mary Ann Jones Jorgensen. He spent his life in Castle Dale, UT doing what he loved; ranching and spending many happy hours in the outdoors with his family. He enjoyed a special bond with his dad with whom he worked side by side. Jake loved to laugh and could find joy in everything. Jake served honorably in the Virginia, Richmond Mission for the LDS Church. He loved the Gospel where he served faithfully with the youth, whom he dearly loved. Jake met the love of his life, Julie Edmunds, and they were sealed for time and all eternity on July 26, 1996 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with three special ranch-hands, Jaxon age 6, Joshua age 3, and Jordan age 1. He is survived by his loving wife; three sons; parents; brothers, James, Joseph and LaNae; sisters, Phyllis and George Patlan, Adella, Liesl and Benjamin West, and Lucile and Kirk Robinson; and loving in-laws; and three nephews; and his special horse, Pucker. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Castle Dale Stake Center. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Relief Society Room of the Castle Dale Stake Center and one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Castle Dale Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name at any Zion's Bank.

I met Jake only once through my sister,Emily Allred.I also grew up with Julie Edmunds, and have great respect for her.The one time I had the honor of speaking with Jake left a lasting impression on me.He was an extraordinary young man,and I was very impressed by his love for his wife and boys. My heart is broken for Julie, her boys, and Jacobs' family.

Dear Jorgensen Family,

I am deeply saddened by the news this tragic event. I can only imagine the sorrow each of you has gone through. I apologize for not being able to attended Jacob's funeral.

Jacob has long been one of my heroes. After returning from my mission, Jacob and I served as deacons' quorum advisors together. I will always remember the powerful lessons he taught the young men in the Castle Dale 1st Ward. He boldly let each class member know that he knew the church was true. In addition, he made sure that each boy knew of his love for them. I can think of no better example for those young boys to look up to. His faithfulness has also been an example to me and all those who have come to know him. He will be missed greatly by me and my family. I know, however, that the Lord has additional work for him to accomplish. Jacob will continue to be a great man and one that I will always look up to.

May the Lord bless each of you in this time of sadness.

Growing up, I always had a great deal of respect for Jacob. Some may remember that he suffered a terrible accident on the farm prior to kindergarten. Despite the injuries to his legs, Jacob persevered and ultimately became one of the fastest runners in our grade school class.

Jacob was fun to be around. You could always count on hearing stories of either the farm or his work on engines. I remember so vividly one day in seminary in high school when I saw his grease stained hands and a large cut on his finger which he undoubtedly received while working with very cold machinery. Jacob was not ashamed. His hands were a reflection of his character--honest, hardworking, and strong.

Jacob was a good person. I mourn for his loss and pray for his family. Jacob, may God bless you and your precious loved ones at this time of separation.

Jacob and I were friends in elementary. He was always having fun and was always happy. That is the way I remember him and will always remember him.

My condolances to his family.

We will remember him well.

My Dear Mary Ann,

I am so sorry to hear about Jacob. He is indeed about his Father's work and no doubt watching over his little family. I am happy to know what a wonderful and loving Grandmother those little ones have to help them now and in the coming years. May you always be blessed with the sweet comfort that comes so lovingly from our Heavenly Father.

Love always, Phyllis Sue

I don't know Jacob personally, but I know two of his sisters well. Liesl and Luci have both worked for me at the BYU Bookstore. I have heard many family stories over the years and know of the great love this family has. My heart goes out to you at this time. I pray for the comforter to surround you and to carry you through this.
