Jefferson Jarvis Obituary

Jefferson 'Jeff' Jarvis

1944 ~ 2024

Jefferson "Jeff" James Jarvis died on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at his home in Bountiful, Utah from congestive heart failure. Jeff was born in 1944 in Hollywood, CA, the second son of Army Air Corps Major John J. and wife Ellyn H. Jarvis. Raised in Fort Worth, Jeff was a proud fifth-generation Texan from a storied family tree. He graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1966, served tours across Southeast Asia and Europe, was honorably discharged in 1977, and enjoyed a successful business career. His proudest titles were those of Husband, Father, and Grandfather and ("Paca").

Jeff loved life. He was a modern Renaissance man - an athlete, musician, poet, pilot, scholar, engineer, inventor, author, world traveler, outdoorsman, hunter, businessman, philanthropist, art collector, teacher, spy, soldier, and spiritual guide. He cherished his friends and was generous to all. He was a life-long optimist - the only depressions he experienced were the dips in the ground that he confidently strode across.

His greatest love was always "My extraordinary wife Donna and my family through her." His love for Donna Kaye Dickey, his eternal companion, was evident to all that knew them. He always referred to her as "a woman of uncommon grace and beauty, a great gift from Heavenly Father."

Jeff was a man who cared deeply, fought valiantly, and served gratefully all his days. He was a fully committed disciple of his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. His family and friends love him dearly and will remember him always.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ellyn, and his son, Francois-Xavier. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Donna; their children, Jon (Sara), Ben (Deanne), Dan (Sussan), and Kristyn (Joe); four direct grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and his siblings, Jonathan, Janie, Jimmy, and Julie.

The funeral service will be Jan 20, 2024, at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel at 3707 S 800 W, Bountiful, UT. Friends and loved ones may visit with the family and attend the viewing at the chapel from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service. Burial is at the Bountiful City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeff's name to Utah Foster Care (utahfostercare.org).

I still find it hard to believe he is gone. From 7th grade on he was just a smiling treasure of a good friend! Nice to everyone....which is why he was one of the most popular all thru school and beyond. He was truly LOVED by us all, and me always
