Jessie Lloyd Obituary

Jessie Kay Greenwood Lloyd
April 1, 1938 - March 23, 2014
Our beautiful wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2014. Jessie was born the second of seven children to Orren and Jennie Greenwood on April 1, 1938 in Sandy, Utah. Home was Jessie's haven and sanctuary and we humbly acknowledge the blessing granted us, her family, that she was able to pass those last days of her life surrounded by the ones she loved there. During her last days, Jessie displayed incredible courage, as she graciously responded with love and humor to every person who entered her home.
Jessie graduated from Jordan High School in 1956, where she met the love of her life, David Lloyd, in Sophomore English class. Even after 56 years of marriage, she would readily proclaim that it was love at first sight. She and Dave were married on September 20, 1957 in the Salt Lake temple, and raised five children together. Their love grew daily, notwithstanding David's sometimes distracting penchant for fly fishing.
Jessie's family was her legacy, and her example of love and kindness will endure for generations. Jessie's irresistible sense of humor made her a favorite among her grandchildren, and her home was a revolving door for the little ones, who would come by to indulge in a craft or a slice of her famous chocolate cake, or just to enjoy her company.
Most dear to her heart was her testimony of Jesus Christ. Jessie was a member of the LDS church, where she served faithfully in many capacities, including ward and stake Relief Society president. But her favorite service took place with the children as the Primary chorister, aided by her boundless creativity.
Jessie is survived by her husband, David; her five children, Todd (Georgann) Lloyd, Kaylin (Jack) Nydegger, Brent (Heather) Lloyd, Vaughn (Sherri) Lloyd and Susan (Mike) Christopherson; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Also survived by four sisters and two brothers.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the nursing staff at Riverton Hospital and the Hospice Team at Angel's Crossing for the loving care extended to Jessie.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Riverton Ranch Ward, 1474 West 13200 South. There will be a viewing Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and again Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery. www.goffmortuary.com

Dear Lloyd family,
Jessie was my dear friend and mentor as we worked together at Hillcrest HS and later as I met her children and grandchildren. I will never forget the kind and gentle person she was and her ability to make a friend where ever she was. I loved her. You are all in my prayers

Sister Lloyd is an "earthly angel" who truly radiated Christ-like love, to everyone she came in contact with. She showed her love to the "little ones" at church and they knew that she loved them, because she told them so and often! I am glad to have known her and I will miss her. I wish I could have been there at her funeral. My love goes to the Lloyd family. Thanks for your good influence in my life.

Jessie is such an amazing person. We all love her and her wonderful family members. One of my favorite quotes from Jessie was about how much she loved her grandkids. In referring to them she stated, "I love them so much, I just want to kiss their faces off...." How truly Jessie that is. She is such a good example to us all. We want to be "more like her when we grow up." Luckily we will all see Jessie again someday. Thank you Jessie for all you've done for everyone who knew you.

We loved Jessie. She was always a delight to visit with and to spend time with. We loved the way she had David wrapped around her little finger. He was such a rascal and she kept him reeled in with her gentle magic. Our children thought she was one of the sweetest ladies they knew. Our thoughts and prayers of comfort for her family will continue. She will never stop watching over her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is a force for good and that will not end but will continue eternally. Love, David and Kathryn Colvin and family

In testimony meeting, I once stated that I really loved the spiritual leader of our ward... and I also loved her husband Bishop Lloyd. I haven't changed my opinion.

The world is a better place because Jessie came through.
