Katherine Hancock Obituary

1999 ~ 2014
Katie was born in Murrieta, CA, on April 26, 1999. She lived in nearby San Jacinto where she attended Record Elementary School. Her family moved to Eagle Mt, UT, in August 2008, where she attended Hidden Hollow Elementary School. For middle and high school, Katie attended American Heritage School in American Fork where her father teaches 9th grade. She was to begin her sophomore year there on August 26, 2014. Katie especially enjoyed her biology, art, music, and French classes, but not math, and is likely thrilled that she'll never have to finish her algebra class. Katie loved to draw: whenever she was sitting, she had a pen in hand to draw ponies and people with beautiful, far-seeing eyes, often on class notes and homework assignments. In June 2014, Katie attended her first Bikram Yoga class, and discovered a hidden passion. With the help of young women and men in her Rock Creek Ward, Katie completed her 30-Day Challenge on July 25, 2014: Namaste! Above all, our Katie lived for laughter and love. She was often heard imitating different cultural accents, as well as imitating animal and fowl calls: she recently mastered the peacock to the point that the birds would come to her when she called, "Hello!" If Katie could make her family and friends smile and laugh, it didn't matter to her what any other person thought of her performance. Monday evening, July 21, Katie attended a ball at the This Is the Place State Park village. She wore a golden gown and her lovely dark hair in ringlets. A posting on Instagram said, "Went to the ball tonight! Only thing missing was a dance with a prince!" It's telling that she chose a dress matching the YW color for virtue: Katie has always been, and will continue to be, true to her family, friends, and faith. Her family now has their own sleeping beauty. Survived by her parents David and Elizabeth "Libby" Hancock of Eagle Mt., sisters Brittany Paine of Menifee, CA, and Aubrey Hancock of Salt Lake City, brothers James Hancock and Isaac Hancock of Eagle Mt., grandparents, Max and Joyce Hancock of Tooele, UT, and Farron and Alene Harrison of LaVerne, CA, currently in Bolivia. A nephew, a niece, 13 uncles, 11 aunts and 36 cousins.
Those who wish to bid her a final "adieu" may do so at funeral services, Wednesday, July 30th, at the LDS church building on 8273 Simpson Springs Road, Eagle Mountain, Utah. Viewing: 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Service: 1:00 p.m. Online guest book at wingmortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at http://www.gofundme.com/c32640.

Your the best friend I'd ever had Katie, I miss you. You were a light unto the world and all that. Wish you were here to do all the things you always talked about, but, I'm sorry...

Katie, she was one of my favorite people. She was always smiling. I had Seminary with her, and I got assigned to sit by her, she was always laughing and joking around. I cannot tell you how much I loved her. She was a wonderful friend. I only knew her for a short time, but I feel like in that time we became very good friends. I am so sorry for your loss. She is such a darling girl, I cried when I read this- I will miss her, but I know she is in Heaven, where God needs her. she was so perfect she didnt need to stay her any longer, I love her, and just want to say how amazing she truly was.

Mr and Mrs Hancock, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Parents should never have to go through the loss of a child. I know that none of this stuff helps the pain you are feeling, but I really hope that you guys will be able to get through this with the help of family and friends.

Sweet, Sweet Girl - You will be missed terribly.

I am so grateful to have had the privilege of knowing Katie. She made life brighter with her smile and her energy was contagious! We had so much fun on our "Girls" Weekend in St. George. Precious, Precious memories. My heart aches for your loss. Katie will be sorely missed by all who knew her. While Earth is a little bit darker with her passing - Heaven is surely brighter. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Hello, I don't know you but know Pam Morris. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a son at 35. Parents are not supposed to bury children. Should be the other way. Hope the Gospel brings peace to your family. Martha Waldrop, Bartlesville, Ok.
