Kathy Buckner Obituary

Kathy Tucker Buckner

August 14, 1954 ~ October 3, 2021

Sit for a moment, in the autumn air, and if you listen well, you will hear strains of heavenly music wafting from the distance. Our mother's hands have once again found her instrument, and the music is divine. Kathryn Tucker Buckner, age 67, returned to her Heavenly Father and her loving parents on Sunday, October 3rd, 2021 after a long battle with early onset Alzheimer's, which she faced with such strength and courage. Kathy was born on August 14, 1954 to Doyle and Catherine Tucker in Morgan, Utah. Imagine a child, filled with the knowledge that she is loved, having the safety of a small town as her Adventureland. Her father owned the local grocery store, Doyle's Market. While most children only pretend to stock shelves and straighten the candy aisle, she actually lived the dream. The streets and yards and wooded lots of Morgan were her playground, and she felt safe and loved. As the youngest of 5 children, Kathy spent much of her time with her parents. They were the best of friends. She cherished them, and because she lost both of them in her twenties, we imagine the embrace and reminiscence that is taking place right now. This brings us comfort. During her high school years, Kathy was the homecoming queen and was on the Morgan High drill team. After she graduated, she attended Dixie State College and Brigham Young University where she met and married Terry H. Buckner on June 25th, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Kathy's life was dedicated to her 3 children: Nathan, Holly, and Rachelle. They were her joy and purpose. Though disease robbed her of much, her children were blessed to always be recognized. They represented peace and safety to Kathy. Her devotion to them was returned in the care they offered until their mother's very last breath. Kathy had provided for them a beautiful, well balanced childhood. She taught them, mostly by her own example, to love Jesus Christ and to trust him. She expected her kids to be responsible and good citizens, kind neighbors and true friends. But she also taught them to look for the magic in life and embrace that as well. Christmas was always a sparkle with magic, frosted with laughter and beauty, and filled with tradition, family, and music.

Her children were her joy, but her grandchildren were her delight! Imagine the scheduling involved in attending performances, recitals and various celebrations for 12 grandchildren. She always arrived with a bouquet in her hands and tears in her eyes.

The world was better because Kathy was in it. She was the epitome of Christlike love, empathy and compassion. When you cried, she cried along with you. She was a friend to all and made sure nobody felt left out. She had a natural ability to enfold those around her.

Kathy had a love and passion for music. She was an accomplished pianist and flutist who touched the lives of hundreds of students. She taught her students technical exactness, but more importantly she infused in them an understanding of the power of music to penetrate the soul and speak to the heart. Her students honor her with the music they offer still; passionately and sweetly played all over the world. Her graceful fingers touched more than the keys on the piano and flute.

Kathy is survived by her 3 children, Nathan Terry Buckner (Jerusha), Holly Katherine Dickamore (Michael), Rachelle Eastin (Rob), her older brother Jim Tucker, her 2 older sisters, Pam Dixon and Launa Whitehead and her 12 grandchildren. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Catherine Tucker and her oldest brother, Hal Tucker. We would like to thank her earthly angels, Christina, Melissa and Aleecia for loving and caring for her until the very end.

Heaven just scored a good one! It gives me peace to know that she is with her mom, dad, and Amber (her dog) now. They are having the best reunion ever! I will miss her dearly. Love her and her family!

I will miss this sweet friend. We had some good times together, and I loved that she never thought I was to old to learn to play the piano. We had some great lessons together and had so much fun driving around in my convertible. What a wonderful woman who loved her kids, grandkids and friends so much.
