Kenneth J. Whittle

Kenneth J. Whittle 1922 ~ 2006 HURRICANE, Utah - Kenneth John Whittle, 83, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2006, in Hurricane. Ken was born on September 26, 1922, to James Whittle and Ellen "Nellie" Monk Whittle in a small cottage in the Pennines of England in the town of Littleborough. He married Margaret Bromley in Perth, Australia, and they later divorced. He married Ilona Syme November 24, 1984, in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Ken is survived by his: wife, Ilona, of Hurricane; three children, of W. Australia; sister, Connie Ashworth, and nephew, Rodney Ashworth, both of Kent, England; as well as Ilona's extended family. Ken was preceded in death by his: parents; sister, Edna Gardner; and parents-in-law, Lenard and Bardella M. Syme. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hurricane Stake Center, 677 S. 700 W., Hurricane. At Ken's request, there will not be a public viewing. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to services, at the Stake Center. Graveside services and burial will be Saturday, January 7, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at the Moroni City Cemetery, Moroni, UT. Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT (435) 673-2454. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a memorial headstone fund for Ken will be accepted by the family.
