Kent Thomas Obituary

Kent Edward Thomas 1940 ~ 2005 Kent Edward Thomas, 65, passed away on July 12, 2005, in Rincon Canyon at his beloved Lake Powell. He was born on June 22, 1940 in Salt Lake City to Elton Kenneth and Jean Frandsen Thomas. Kent founded Kent Thomas, Inc. in the early 1970's. He built the company from spare space in his home garage to an international, multi-million dollar laundry and dry cleaning equipment business. For over 45 years, Kent was an expert on all aspects of the laundry and dry cleaning industry and he made wonderful friends and colleagues throughout the world. He loved model airplanes, boating, water skiing, all water sports, hiking, rock hunting, golf, music and spending time with his grandchildren. Kent was a man who lived life to the fullest and was happiest surrounded by his family at Lake Powell, at his mountain cabin or barbequing in his back yard. He is survived by his mother, Jean E. Thomas, his loving wife Afton, and his five daughters Melodie Jean (Tom) Jacobsen, Shellie (Stan) Biesele, Michelle (Lee) Lawrence, May (Eric) Harris, and Jody (George) Mattena; sister, Linda Stuart and brothers Gordon and Norman Thomas. Kent's greatest delight came from his grandchildren, CJ, BreAnne, Michael, Travis, Cameron, Lexi, Samantha, Kay Lynn, Austin, Bobbie "Bo Jo", Haley, Shantell and special nephew David. He was preceded in death by his father Elton Kenneth Thomas. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Mortuary at 5850 So. 900 East. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.

It will soon be 12 years since you passed. We've had many moments of feeling lost without you. Other moments have been filled with tender memories. Your presence has been felt many times and you are aware of our lives. You really are a true patriarch. It will be a wonderful day when we can finally be with you again and we can hear your words of wisdom, your corney jokes, see your engaging smile with twinkling eyes, throwing your head back and roaring with laughter. Oh, how you have been missed!
