Lisa Phan Obituary

31 August 1962 ~ 18 September 2016
Salt Lake City, Utah-Lisa was born in Provo, Utah, to Virgil N. Kovalenko and Lela J. Musick. Lisa knew what it was to move: in the first twenty-one years of life she inhabited twenty-two dwellings. She made her Salt Lake City house sacred and beautiful, for in it she finally found rest. Last Sunday became her ultimate day of rest as she relocated to her permanent home.
Lisa was an old soul, always talking with people and not to them. Her attention, interest, and concern were genuine and intuitive. Children, animals, and even very broken people claimed safe harbor with her. She was a creator and a beautifier, a lover of music, and a wise counselor. Of all the things she fostered and held dear, her grandchildren were at the top. She was a ministering angel before cancer took her.
Lisa was preceded in death by her brother, David. She is survived by parents Virgil and Lela; her siblings Nicholas, Michael, and Kanya; her husband Dennis; her son Anthony; her daughter Carolyn and family, Kevin Gunnuscio with their children Kathleen and Connor; her daughter Grace and family, Jonathan Kackstaetter with their children Emma, Lauren, and Joshua; and her son Jonathan.
Lisa's viewing will be Friday, Sept. 23rd, from 6-9pm, and Saturday, Sept. 24th, from 9-9:40am. Her funeral will start at 10am sharp. All services will be in the Brookshire Ward building, located 3487 South 1300 East in Salt Lake City. Interment will follow the funeral at Wasatch Lawn. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Nursing Services of Utah [www.cns-cares.org] are appreciated. To leave condolences visit www.serenityfhs.com

Dear Lisa, I know how you have looked forward to being with the Lord once again, that day has finally come. But after knowing you and your dear family for over thirty years it will be very difficult to say goodbye. I will miss your smile, for that was always permanent, also your beautiful music which you played so elegantly each Sunday at Church and at your lovely home.
Lisa, you were an angel on earth and I believe that God needed another angel in Heaven.
I am grateful that the pain is gone and that smile is back forever now. I hope to meet you again in the eternities, I will love you forever, until we meet again. Suzanna D.
