Loma Ekstrom Obituary

Loma Mary Jones Ekstrom
May 1, 1925 ~ Dec. 15, 2012
Loma Mary Jones Ekstrom returned to her heavenly home on December 15, 2012. She was born in Providence, Utah, on May 1, 1925, to Hyrum and Abigail Ann Naylor Jones. The youngest of nine children (seven boys and two girls), she was forced to grow up at a very young age after her older sister, Phoebe, passed away. Her lifelong love for music and her beautiful soprano voice were a major part of her life. She sang in the Utah Oratorio Society and the Jay Welch Chorale for many years. She was made Chief Operator at the Logan main telephone office at the young age of 19 (and later in Smithfield). She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Cooper Ekstrom, for time and all eternity on May 1, 1946, in the Logan LDS Temple. She worked for many years in the retail industry for JC Penney serving in management positions in Human Resources. She was actively involved in the LDS church and served her Heavenly Father faithfully throughout her life in many leadership positions in both ward and stake auxiliaries. Her music, professional, and church service brought her many lifelong friends. Everyone who knew her felt cherished and that they were the most important person on earth. She is survived by her husband, five children Joseph Jones (Deann), Violet Ann McCleery (Michael), Edward Dean (Missy), Brenda Lee Mabey (Gary), Michael Kelly (Rebecca), 40 grandchildren including spouses, and 46 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19th at 11 a.m. at the Fort Union 5th Ward building, 6770 S. 500 E., Midvale, UT. Viewings will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-10:40 a.m. at the same location. Funeral services are being coordinated by Lake Hills Memorial of Sandy, Utah (www.memorialutah.com).
