Mable Amelia Korn

Mable Amelia Korn 1912 ~ 2007 Mable Amelia Korn, age 95, passed away July 24, 2007 in Salt Lake City. She was born in Salt Lake City on May 28, 1912 to Julius Korn and Mary M. Ruesch Korn. Mable was an active member of the LDS church and served in the Great Lakes Mission from 1946 to 1948. She graduated from the University of Utah and was a dedicated elementary school teacher for over 40 years in Salt Lake City. Mable was an avid lover of the outdoors and greatly enjoyed hiking, skiing, camping, white water rafting, traveling in her trailer to explore new locals and spending time with friends and relatives at the family cabin in the mountains of central Utah. Mable and her sister Ruth were pioneers of a sort in that they were two of the first women to hike through the Virgin River Narrows and to raft the Colorado River. Mable Korn is survived by her loving nieces Mary Ellen Jennings, of Idaho, and Maurine Despain of Salt Lake City; six great nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews. Mable was dearly loved by everyone who knew and were touched by her and she will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brookside Ward, 3487 South 1300 East. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services.
