Marlene Dazley Obituary

Marlene Janice Dazley

9/18/42 ~ 1/25/23

Marlene Janice Dazley born September 18, 1942 to Darrel Clifton Lowe and Marguerite Lillian Packer passed away on January 25th, 2023 from a sudden onset of cancer.

Marlene lived an extraordinary life and leaves behind a remarkable legacy. We are heartbroken with the loss of our sweet Marlene, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Marlene and Dewayne had a wonderful life together. She graduated from Olympus High School and attended the University of Utah. Marlene was an accomplished woman – quiet, kind, humble, smart, unpretentious, uncomplaining, solid in her faith and exemplary in her life. One of those quiet angels who blessed the lives of all around her. Marlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an example of unconditional love and service to others. She lived an extraordinary life, full of love and compassion for others.

Marlene worked in the Third District Court for 45 years as a court clerk for Judge Gowans and Judge Reese. She was known by nearly every judge and attorney across the Wasatch Front. She cherished the friendships she made with those she associated with.

Marlene loved her family more than anything in this world. She was the most supportive parent and grandparent, known in sporting circles for carrying her folding chair and wearing her sunglasses to every event. She would never miss a game, performance, or activity of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

Marlene served for decades in the Utah Symphony Guild in various leadership positions. She was also a member of the Pioneer Theatre Guild. Marlene had a passion for the fine arts and volunteering for those organizations.

She is survived by her son Marlowe (JaNeanne) Dazley, daughter Heather (Troy) Benson, grandchildren; Marlowe Dazley II, Ian (Vanessa) Dazley, Alexis Dazley, Connor Dazley, Zander Benson and Landen Benson, brothers Dean (Carol) Lowe, sister Donna (Kirby) Smith and Brent (Camille) Miller, sisters-in-law Yvonne Neff and Pam Lowe.

Preceded in death by parents and loving husband Dewayne Dazley, brothers LaVar Neff, and Martell Lowe. A viewing will be held Friday, February 3rd from 6:00-8:00pm at the East Millcreek chapel at 3103 East Craig Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 4th at the same location at 11:00am with a viewing for family and friends from 9:30-10:30. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

I am so grateful to have served with Marlene as Activity Day leaders. She was so dependable and cute with the girls. She never missed an activity even walking through the Salt Lake City cemetery before her knee surgeries. She showed genuine love and interest in everyone and with the most remarkable memory she would remember everything that you told her! I was always impressed with her loyalty and love for family, always there to support and cheer on her loved ones, which included a large circle of those of us whose lives she touched. She will be missed! Paul and I send our love and condolences and are celebrating her beautiful life.

Dear Heather and Marlowe: I wasn't able to attend Marlene's funeral because of a child's baptism I needed to attend at the same time. I loved your Mother. She truly was the quiet angel who blessed the ones around her. I know she blessed my life with her thoughtfulness and kindness. When my husband, Phil, passed away she made many telephone calls advising of his passing. Most of his former co-workers attended his funeral because of her efforts.
Marlene's obituary is written beautifully and describes her perfectly. She truly was a very special lady. Caroline Palmer

Marlene was an absolute sweetheart!! She was so kind, down-to-earth and personable. I am an attorney and had the pleasure of knowing Marlene for decades when she was Judge Reese's court clerk. She was loved by everyone and will be missed. Sending my love to the Dazley family during this difficult time.
