Martin Personick Obituary

In Loving Memory
Martin Edward Personick, 72, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Brookdale in Salt Lake City surrounded by family.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Valerie Personick, his daughter, Laura Personick, his son, Michael Personick, his daughter-in-law, Rayna Personick, his brother Stewart Personick, and many close friends.
Born and raised in New York, the son of Louis and May Personick, Marty began his career at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in New York, where he met his wife in 1971.
In 1972, the pair moved to Northern Virginia, where he continued his career at BLS for nearly 25 years. In 2010, the couple moved to Utah to be closer to family.
A brilliant economist, animal lover, and talented bridge player, Marty will be remembered as a devoted family man and caregiver for his darling Val. Marty always said that "his life began when he married her," and during their 42 years together they traveled the world, sampled fine cuisine and enjoyed fine wine, fostered a love for Opera and theater, cheered on all the local DC sports teams, talked a little economics over the dinner table, cherished time with their friends, and dedicated themselves to their children. Marty spent the final years of his life caring for Val as her Alzheimer's progressed.
A funeral service will be held at Evans and Early Mortuary on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 1:30-3:30. A memorial service will be held in the Washington DC area in July for friends and family in that area. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation to the Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association. Online condolences may be shared at www.evans-earlymortuary.com.

None of you, exept for Val, may know me, but I loved marty so much. My mom worked at brookdale and I saw him often. He was an amazing friend, husband, son, and all out person. I love you Marty and always will.

Please accept my sincere sympathies. Do not underestimate the value of prayer. It is not that prayer simply makes us feel better. The " Hearer of prayer " promises to give holy spirit to his servants who sincerely ask for it. ( Psalm 65 : 2 ) Yes, more than anything else, a relationship with God can help his faithful servants to endure any and every problem they may face.

Sincere condolences goes out to the Personick family for your sad loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Marty's passing. He was a very gentle and fine person. I worked with him and Valerie at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the early 70's. My husband, Mike, and I spent many lovely evenings over dinner with them and the children. My heart goes out to Val and the kids.

I am so sad about Marty's passing. He was a wonderful friend who meant so much to me as did his whole family. Not only was Marty a great friend, but he was so smart and so funny. In his last years he devoted himself unconditionally as a caregiver to Val. I will always have so many wonderful memories of Marty that will last forever. Mahin and I express our deepest sympathy to Laura, Mike, and the rest of their family.
