Melinda Romney Obituary

Melinda Tuckett Harrison Romney

1969 ~ 2023

- Our beloved Melinda Tuckett Harrison Romney slipped from this Earthly presence and into the arms of many loved ones, joyously awaiting her arrival in Heaven, at 2:40 a.m. on August 4, 2023 after sustaining injuries from an accident.

Melinda was welcomed into our world on September 2, 1969 in Provo, Utah. To the shock of her parents, Duane and Marjorie Tuckett, her twin sister, Melissa, surprisingly followed shortly after her.

Melinda grew up in the Salt Lake Valley and graduated from Murray High School in 1987. She attended Dixie College but received her Associates Degree and her License of Cosmetology from Salt Lake Community College. Many were blessed by Melinda's talent with hair and nails for nearly 30 years.

She met Sterling West Harrison and was married to him on September 23, 1989. Together, Sterling and Melinda lovingly welcomed their daughter, Contessa Harrison into the world. Tragically, Sterling was taken into the arms of his loving Heavenly Father on September 10, 1994 due to an automobile accident.

Shortly after the death of Sterling, Melinda met Jeffrey Jay Romney and they were married February 3, 1996 on a beautiful ridge overlooking Lake Powell, joyously joining together their children Sadie, Jantzen, and Contessa as a family.

Melinda was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings, ministered to many, and always remained true and faithful. She was in her element when she was outdoors. She loved hiking in the mountains, going on side-by-side rides with her family, boating, camping, and recently, she absolutely adored playing tennis. She loved her family with the fiercest of hearts, and her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She loved being with them and having sleepovers together. Wherever Melinda was, her twin sister, Melissa, was not far away. True Partners in Crime and true Sisters in Christ…loving and giving every step of the way. She was so welcoming to everyone with her infectious smile and twinkle in her eye. She loved spending her days in her beloved community of Midway with her friends and family. That tiny energetic body was full of grace, fire, light, affection, and so much love, always ready with a hug…and really good food.

Melinda is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Jay Romney, her daughters Contessa Harrison Heaton (Kyle), Taygen Romney, Jesse Jayde Romney, and Sadie Romney Egan (Spencer), her son Jantzen Romney, her grand-babies Oakley, Sterling, and Enzo, her parents Duane Francis and Marjorie Larsen Tuckett, her siblings Sean Tuckett (Barbara), Melissa Tuckett, Jess Tuckett (Wendy), Joe Tuckett (Maria) and Bethany Hansen (Cameron), as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Sterling Harrison.

A viewing will be held at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Murray on Thursday August 10th from 6:00-8:00 PM (Located at 4760 South State Street in Murray).

We will celebrate her life at a Funeral service on Friday morning August 11th at 11:00 AM at the LDS Chapel located at 5605 South Vine Street in Murray. There will also be a visitation at 9:30 AM before the funeral.

I loved going to College with Melinda and her sister Melissa. They always were such happy people . Melinda was always so happy and her smile was contagious. As we got older and our lives and family took our time I lost touch with Melinda and Melissa. I think of them often wondering how they are and what they were doing. It was heaetbreaking to learn of her dealth. i wished i could of attended the service but living outside of Utah i couldnt attend. i am forever grateful that she was a part of my life while we went to college. Their friendship and the memories I have I treasure.

I remember growing up she did my hair and nails, for over a decade. She was my neighbor here in Draper. Amazing woman with a beautiful heart, she was always ready and waiting with a hug. That was Melinda. So GIVING. Miss her so much. Beautiful tribute for a beautiful soul.

Duane and Marjorie, Melinda has left us with such fond memories. That girl had grit!!!! If anyone had it, she did. We remember the time, we all did our first triathlon in St. George and you both were there, and Melinda forgot her wet suit. So she just did the swim without it. The water was freezing cold and I thought she was completely crazy! No way would she do that! She sure did! Melinda could do anything she set her mind too, and have a blast doing it. She lived life to the fullest and such a joy to be around. May you know of our love for you and feel of our prayers. Erik and ReNée Erekson

I remember spending many Sunday evenings at her house in draper as we grew up, playing with cousins and occasionally riding horses with her and the rest of her family. She and Jeff were also the first family I was able to spend time with after my mission, when we went boating the day after I got home. She will be missed here on earth, but I have full confidence she is finally free of every care and sorrow, and is perfectly happy on the other side.

Such a beautiful woman. I loved her smile and her hugs. My favorite memory of her is a trip we took with our daughters to New York in 2007(?).
Melinda had a leather fanny pack that had belonged to her and Sterling. Every time we went to dinner or bought theater or train tickets, Melinda would pull a $100 bill out of the pack and pay with it. By the end of our trip I started to get really stressed about the amount of cash she had been carrying. She just laughed about it. She was a beautiful human who will be missed by many
