MICHAEL UTLEY

Michael Clem Utley Heber City, Utah Michael Clem Utley passed away December 10, 2009, at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He is now with his beloved son Shane who he missed so much. Mike was born on November 27, 1946, to Worthy Clem Utley and Lora Barkdull. He graduated from Millard High School. From 1965-1967 he served a mission in the Great Lakes / Ohio are for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In March 1968, Mike married his childhood sweetheart, Kathie Warner in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to all. Mike loved the LDS Church and served in many capacities. He loved music and had a wonderful singing voice. Mike was an extremely hard worker and was employed by Westroc Concrete for 21 years, where he enjoyed wonderful friendships with co-workers and contractors alike. Michael was a great outdoorsman. He loved hunting, horseback riding, and spending time in the mountains. He had a passion for fishing, and was known by many as "Strawberry Mike". He could often be found taking his grandchildren, friends, scouts, and ward members fishing on his boat. Mike's grandchildren always looked forward to the annual family fishing trip to Strawberry Reservoir. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children: Heather (Rick) McArthur, Kate (Brad) Remund; daughter-in-law, Michelle (Mark) Luke; nine grandchildren: Zack, Nick, Abbie, Sadie, Maloree, McKade, Maycee, Chelsie, and BrookLynn; father, Clem Utley; mother-in-law, Mildred Warner; brothers: Sam (Kathy) and Tony (Kristy) Utley; sister, Tami (Roland) Benson; sisters-in-law: Judy (Phil) Sabey, Diane (Jerry) Pierce. Preceded in death by his son, Shane Utley; mother, Lora Utley; father-in-law, LeGrand Warner; brother-in-law, Charles Warner; nephew, Colby Peck; niece, Ashley Benson. The family would like to thank Dr. Todd Haderlie, the staff of Heber Valley Medical Center, Dr. Cordell Bott, Kathy Paprocki, nurse Audrey, IHC Hospice, Salus Homecare, and the numerous friends and neighbors that have helped care for Mike. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 15th, 12 noon, at the Heber East Stake Center, 2395 S. Mill Rd., Heber, UT. Viewings will be held Monday night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service, both at the LDS Stake Center.
