Randall Williams Obituary

Randall Thomas Williams

August 14, 1950 ~ June 7, 2024

Randall Thomas Williams, age 73, of Murray, Utah, completed his life mission, following a brave battle against cancer, on June 7, 2024. He was born in Lakeview, Oregon on August 14, 1950 to Thomas Artell Williams and Mary Ellen Hazard. He was the oldest of seven children and spent his formative years in Oregon.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Alberta Saskatchewan, Canada mission. Following his mission, he attended Brigham Young University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology. He was married and sealed to Cheri Lee Wood in the Oakland, California temple on August 20, 1974, and they went on to have a family of four children and ten grandchildren. The growing family spent time in Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado, before settling in Tempe, Arizona, where they lived for 22 years. While in Arizona, he earned a second Bachelor of Science in manufacturing engineering technology from Arizona State University.

He spent the remainder of his career working in engineering disciplines. This included a move to Murray, Utah in 2005 where he lived the remainder of his life. He had many hobbies and interests including aviation, tennis, biking, technology, and was ever the professional student and learner. He will be remembered as being practical and frugal, and he exuded a sense of humor with his many jokes, turns of phrase, and imaginative stories. He was positive, curious, even tempered, warm, and always made others feel welcome.

Randy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. He had a strong testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and of the plan of salvation. He is survived by his eternal family including his wife, Cheri, his children Corey (Sally) Williams, Mary (Thomas) Babb, Erica (Ryan) Nielsen, and Rachel (Chad) Thueson, as well as his grandchildren: Ashlyn, and Ava Williams; Talia, Landen, and Madilyn Babb; Trenton, Chase, and Quinn Nielsen; Sierra and Sawyer Thueson. Randy is also survived by his six siblings: Sara (Kenneth) Crabtree, Marc (Diane) Williams, Laurie (Jeff) Robinson, Kent (Jan) Williams, Marcy (Todd) Boice, and Erin (Lance) Black.

The family would like to thank friends, family and neighbors for their support during this time. They would also like to express appreciation to Intermountain Healthcare professionals for their compassion and service.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Ridgecreek Ward chapel (5735 South Fashion Boulevard, Murray, Utah). A viewing will take place prior from 9:00am to 10:00am. Randy will be interred at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

I still miss Randy, he is in my thoughts every day, the picture is of Randy in Hong Kong eating Durian (a smelly fruit). He was always willing to try anything

He always brought a calm and encouraging energy. Was a teacher and friend that created a place for accomplishment and growth.

Randy was a good friend and work partner. Randy taught my daughter to line dance when was very shy. He will be missed deeply by myself, my wife and daughter.
