November 8, 1949 – June 24, 2025
Randy Smith, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, at the age of 75. A lifelong resident of Kearns, Utah, Randy built a legacy rooted in family, hard work, and simple joys.
Born to Swede and Annie Smith, Randy spent his career at Kennecott Mine, where he worked in several roles and was proud to be one of the first in a small group to break ground at Barney's Canyon.
Randy was a man of quiet strength who loved the outdoors, especially camping in the mountains, gun collecting, and taking grandkids, family and friends shooting. He had a passion for reloading, thrifting, gold panning, coin collecting, and airbrushing, always finding joy in the hunt, the process, and the creativity. These hobbies weren't just pastimes for him; they were ways he connected with the people he loved and the world around him.
In commitment to his family and a better life, he achieved over 40 years of sobriety, breaking generations of addiction and remained sober until his passing. Seeing his grandchildren grow up strong, healthy, and free from the burden brought him tremendous peace and pride.
Randy's greatest joy came from his family. He was a proud father of three children, Jentry, Tiff (deceased), and Nik (deceased), and an even prouder grandfather to his grandchildren, Mitchell, Nathan, Ryan, Hudson, AryAnn, Taysha, Nikki, and Charlie, and many great-grandchildren, who were the absolute light of his life. His face would light up when he talked about them, and his love for them was fierce and unconditional.
He will be remembered for his loyalty, his steady presence, and the deep, enduring love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in every life he touched.
Randy will be laid to rest in the family cemetery, alongside his beloved daughter, son, mother, and father. A viewing will be held Monday, July 7th from 6pm – 8pm, and Tuesday, July 8th from 9:30am – 10:30am at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Murray (4760 S State St.) to be followed by a graveside services at Pleasant Green Cemetery in Magna (9200 W 3500 S).
Grandpa, we love and miss you. You the man!
