Robbie Robinson Obituary

Oct. 15, 1955 ~ Sept. 18, 2019
Robbie Lynn Robinson packed up his tools one last time and headed home on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the far too young age of 63. He leaves behind his beloved wife and high school sweetheart Laura, three children including John (Truc), Kelly (Matt) and Michael (Haley) as well as the storebought cookie industry, which though not his career of choice, was a personal passion and the foundation of much of his diet.
Robbie was born in American Fork, Utah to Lynn and Sylvia Robinson, though he believed himself to be the son of legendary New York Yankee Mickey Mantle despite having extensive evidence to the contrary. Along with his love of the Yankees, Robbie was a dedicated fan of BYU football and subsequently, any NFL team that featured BYU alumni.
Earning a degree in Accounting, Robbie built a distinguished career in procurement for such firms as Hercules, ATK Orbital and Albany but took greater pride in his skills as a fine wood craftsman, building furniture and cabinets for his home and those of his children. He was an enthusiastic gardener, who may have in fact missed his calling as a landscaper and kept an immaculate backyard which was a source of both great pride and intense frustration thanks to the many deer that treated it like an all you can eat buffet.
An avid outdoorsman, marksman and hunter, Robbie loved animals, opening his home over the years to a couple of possibly feral cats, his yard to wild birds (and those stupid deer), and most importantly his heart to dogs of all sizes and breeds, who seemed to love him even more than he loved them. Memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, an animal rescue group in Salt Lake City.
A celebration of Robbie's life and laughter is planned for Saturday, September 28th for family and close friends. Well-wishers are encouraged to find a serene place in nature and think about what a beautiful and wondrous world we live in… you will feel Robbie there.

I am SO sorry to hear of Robbie's passing. It is such a shock!

I worked with Robbie at my dad's company (Beehive International) in the 80's. I have recently been acquainted with him as a customer of ours while he worked for ATK, Orbital. We'll certainly miss his smile, laughter, and wonderful personality at our annual charity golf day, where I got to see my long-time/long-known work friend.
Hugs to your entire family, and my thoughts turn to you during this tender time. Go forward in peace knowing he is watching over you.

All who knew Robbie enjoyed time spent with him. I was fortunate to have worked with him at ATK and Albany. His humor, work ethic and leadership skills are what I will remember most. No matter how crazy things got at work, we could always count on Robbie to throw in a joke to lighten us up. So sorry for your loss. But what a ride you must have had!

My sincerest sympathies at Robbie's passing which came as quite a shock even though I had not worked with him for years at ATK and Hercules, we had some great times on the golf course. He always had a positive sense of humor and I tried my best to make him laugh. But I looked up to the man, who carried sometimes took things maybe a little less seriously back in the day. I would have loved to have worked for Robbie and share some old stories, laughs and how I whooped him on the golf course (joke).

To Robbie's family, my sincerest sympathies at Rob's passing. It was quite a shock to say the least, even though I hadn't worked with him since my time at Bacchus 20 years ago. But we did play a lot of golf over the years, and everyone always had a good time playing with or against Rob. He was a class individiual who I looked up to and still remember some of his history growing up in American Fork. Always had a smile on his face, and took my attempts at humor and to make him laugh in stride however innane they may have been. Would love to go back in time to the good old Hercules days, where purchasing had some clout and respect, but time changes things. All the best to my past friends and workmates, but Robbie was in a class all his own.

Sincerely,

Greg Penrose

I am greatly saddened by the passing of Robbie. He was a true friend. With his passing, I celebrate and rejoice in the manner in which he lived his life. For many years Robbie and I worked together at Hercules/Orbital ATK. He was hard working, very smart, fun-loving and a joy to be around. Often while on travel assignments he would share with me the love he had for his wonderful wife and how proud he was of his great kids. I am most grateful to have known Robbie. My sincerest sympathies to you all.
