Robert Vincent Obituary

Robert Daniel Vincent

February 11, 1933 - October 8, 2022

- Robert (Bob) Daniel Vincent, Age 89, passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on Feb 11, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Daniel Harris and Hulda Amelia Nilsson Vincent.

Bob married the love of his life, Zanita Hamelwright Vincent on March 24, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. They resided in Salt Lake City and together raised six children.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and was honorably discharged.

Bob was a warm, caring and loving man who was a friend to all. He had many friends and loved to get together with them. He would gather often with friends from high school, work and the neighborhood. They would go on vacations, camping trips and have many get togethers at their home.

He was a hard worker and taught his family to have a strong work ethic. They spent many years cutting and splitting wood for the fire place. He always had a garden and enjoyed teaching his fam-ily how to grow their own food. He worked as a postal carrier for 26 years where he made many life-long friends..

Bob was always willing to help Zan with any project they took on, whether it was cooking dinner, helping with canning, or serving in their many church callings.

Bob loved to hunt and fish and passed on his love of the outdoors and animals to his family. He loved to go camping and spend time with his family and friends. He had many animals in his life and swore that he had a green dog as a child.

Being with his family and playing games, especially Pinochle, was one of Bob's biggest joys. He enjoyed going to many school concerts and sports events to support his grandchildren.

A life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bob had a strong testimony of his savior. He served in many callings in the church and worked with the youth for many years. He and Zan served as missionaries on Temple Square for 8 years and served in the Jordan River Temple Baptistry for 19 years. During this time he was often mistaken for looking like President Hinkley.

Bob is survived by his six children: Sue Zan, Sharon (Peter) Lenhart, Mark (Laurie), Shane (Al-ecia), Darin (Suzanne) and Dana Gruer. He is a Grandpa to 29 grandchildren and a great-grandpa to 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother Harris (Ina), 4 sisters Ruth (Lynn) Gritton, Norma (Preston) Wilding, Elaine (Ray) Hermansen, Lois (Roland) Senior, and 2 grandsons, Travis and Bryce Vincent.
