We will forever miss our generous, sweet, much loved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and friend, Ronald Douglas Pohlman, who died November 10, 2015, due to complications of pneumonia. Ron was the most patient, kind hearted, loving person any of us knew. He was born on July 17, 1937, to Barbara and Bert Pohlman. He grew up in Salt Lake City and was an active member of the LDS church. Ron received his Eagle Scout, graduated from South High School (1955) and later graduated from the University of Utah. Ron worked for Salt Lake City Corporation where he retired in 1999, as Housing Program Manager.
Ron and his wife, LaVerda purchased several homes that they moved into and remodeled. Ron served as the general contractor on the home they built, doing a great deal of the work himself with help from family and friends.
Ron had the most wonderful group of friends that were a huge part of his life; they helped create a lifetime of memories. He loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises and vacations with his family and friends. He enjoyed boating at Lake Powell, playing golf, tennis, bowling and eating out.
He adored his family very much, however, we often thought he loved his ice cream and sweets more. Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, LaVerda Pohlman, children; Gregory (Beth) Pohlman, Chris (Karen) Pohlman, Pamela Pace and daughter in law Joyce Pohlman. Grandchildren; Brian, Casi, Daniele, Samantha, Jackson Pohlman, Justin and Alisha Pace, 11 great grandchildren, brother Lynn (Sharon) Pohlman and many nieces and nephews . He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 2350 East 1300 South, SLC. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. A viewing will also be held Sunday evening, November 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the same location.
