RUBY ELDREDGE

Ruby Coon Eldredge 1918 ~ 2010 Ruby Elizabeth Coon Eldredge passed away October 29, 2010 of natural causes incident to age.Ruby was born January 25, 1918, the daughter of Walter Edward and Ruby Elizabeth Hancock Coon. Ruby married Victor Lambert Eldredge on September 19, 1936 in Santa Cruz, California. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom taught her family the value of hard work and honesty by example. She loved her vegetable garden, and nurtured the flowers, bushes and trees in her yard. She relaxed on warm summer nights by dragging the hose around watering her plants in the dark. She also loved her dogs and gave them special treats when no one was watching. She instilled a love for music and education in her children and was proud that all her children graduated from the University of Utah. In retirement Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling together, gardening, camping, hunting and fishing with their family. Ruby is survived by her three children, Deon (Marvin) Mortensen, Fred (Jannis) Eldredge, and Doug (Shauna) Eldredge, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vic, three brothers, Virgil, Derald, and Merl Coon, one sister, Doris Hardman, and two grandchildren, Michelle Wagner and Eric Mortensen. The family wishes to thank the staff of Care Source Hospice for the kind and professional care they gave Mom in the last weeks of her life. Viewings will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., Magna, UT. Friends may also visit 10-11 a.m., Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Jordan 6th/7th Ward, 3650 W. 4400 S., West Valley City.
