RUBY TALBOT Obituary

Ruby Dorleen Williams Talbot 1926 ~ 2010 An elect lady has been called home. She came to earth in Somerset, Colorado, November 23, 1926 and left for her journey home on Sunday, July 18, 2010. She was third in a family of five born to Roy and Grace Muhlstein Williams. She spent her youth on a farm in Pleasant View, Utah where she learned to work hard, a blessing she continued and appreciated all her life. She used her many talents to bless the lives of others. She had a beautiful singing voice, artistic and domestic expertise, an unusually soft tone on the trumpet, and was a gifted piano teacher and accompanist. She had perfect pitch. She will be remembered by many for her scrap booking, more than 1500 Christmas bears for children of missionaries, burp cloths for newborn babies, food and good cheer for neighbors and friends, birthday cards and gifts to every brother and sister and niece and nephew on both sides of the family, and for her excellent egg-al-a-golden rod and apple pie. Her greatest talent was a soft and compassionate heart in the service of others. She became the mother and surrogate mother of 13 children, a "Mission Mom" to 698 missionaries, and a dear grandmother to 29 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. Ever faithful to her religious beliefs, she served as a primary teacher and president, ward Relief Society president three times and counselor once, ward and stake music and dance director, three full-time missions (Florida Tampa, Nigeria Aba, and England Manchester), and as assistant matron in the Provo Utah Temple. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Walter D. Talbot; sons and daughters: Bruce "A" Talbot (Teresa), Jilyn Clay, Jade Talbot, Stanley Miller (Kathleen), Kathryn Christensen (David), David "J" Miller (Linda), Evelyn Salazar, Roe Smith (Kolleen), Melvin Natoni, Pauline Cameron, Debbie Tanne (Michael), Vanessa Hobbs (Jon), and Reija Leena Ylinen (Timo); two brothers, Benne Williams (Diana), and Gene Williams (Shirley); a sister-in-law, Darlene Bates (Lambert), a brother-in-law, Larry Stott (Zelda); and numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sunbrook Hospice for the excellent care and compassion that they have shown. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the Canyon View Stake Center, 300 South 2600 East in Spanish Fork. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 20 at the Walker Family Mortuary, 187 South Main, in Spanish Fork from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to the funeral services at the Stake Center from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Memorial Estates Cemetery 1640 East Lakeview Drive in Bountiful, Utah between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.

Dear Brother Talbot,

Gaye Higginson just called us and let us know of the passing of your sweetheart. We always look at the obituaries and I don't know how we missed Sister Talbot's. We want you to know of our love for you. We were privileged to serve with you in England and spend some time together in reunions. You and your Sweetheart are remarkable people. We send our condolences and love,

All my life, Aunt Dorleen insisted on serving as my adoptive grandmother taking the place of my mother's parents, because she had already selflessly taken over the care of my mother's siblings. Throughout my life, she sent me Christmas gifts, cards on my birthday, and actively worried (perhaps too much) whether I would make good choices with my life. More perhaps than anyone else, she and Uncle DeVaur taught me that family is who you choose to love and not just who you share a genetic code with. I will always treasure that teaching and hope that I can carry on her legacy with those who come into my orbit. -Ron Farnsworth (Adopted grandson)
