Ruth Weiss Obituary
Ruth Doreen Cutler Weiss 1925 ~ 2006 Ruth Doreen Cutler Weiss passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2006 in Redmond, Washington, and returned to her Heavenly Father and the waiting arms of her sweetheart Karl Nephi Weiss. She was born on October 12, 1925 in Crockett, California to Dale Cutler and Charlotte Goddard, was raised in Utah and California, and graduated from South High School in 1943. Doreen was the oldest of seven brothers and sisters: Marion B. (Fran) Cutler, Martin R. Cutler, Rhonda L. (David) Brinkerhoff, and Jennie L. (LeGrand-Oz) Iverson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl; brother, John D. Cutler; sister, Carol J. (Don) Griffen; and sister-in-law, Myrna Cutler. Doreen was sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple to Karl N. Weiss in June of 1955. She graduated from business school and during the early years of their marriage worked as an executive assistant to help put her husband through dental school. She dearly loved her family and lived for her grandchildren, and took great pleasure in all their accomplishments. They loved their Nana and will never forget her. Doreen loved her Father in Heaven and served Him faithfully, having held many teaching and leadership positions in the wards and stakes in which she lived. She completed a German name extraction mission with Karl for six years, both in California and Utah. They later served on the Temple Square Concert Series Committee for four years. Doreen herself was a truly gifted and talented singer, and took great pleasure in the musical abilities of those around her and faithfully participated in numerous ward and stake choirs and concerts, and found great joy in her last calling in the church. She is survived by her son, Karl S. Weiss; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Call Weiss; granddaughter Shannon B. (Brian) Ellis and great-grandson Zachary; granddaughter Jessica R. Weiss; granddaughter Lauren P. (John) Hanamaikai; grandson Karl Jeffrey Weiss; and granddaughter Kendra N. Weiss. We honor and love her for the example of her life to us all. She exemplified patience and charity, and possessed an exceptionally strong testimony in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. As her health deteriorated, she displayed an incredibly strong strength of will and independence. Yet, through it all, she was the constant picture of kindness and love. A viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 Highland Drive in Salt Lake on Friday, December 15, 2006 from 10:30 to 12:00 noon, followed by a brief graveside service that same day.
