Sandra Hash Obituary

Sandra Rae Smith Hash

1946 - 2021

Sandra Rae Smith Hash passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband and children at her home of 43 years in Riverton, Utah, on November 14, 2021, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. She said, "My greatest desire was to be a loving wife, daughter, mother and grandmother to my family. I have and continue to have a very strong testimony. My life's goal is to BE KIND! Let go; Let God. He is always there for each of us. I love and will always love my wonderful children."

She was born on July 16, 1946 in Richfield, Utah to Grover LeRoy Smith and Ida Mae Barney Smith. She lived in Circleville, Utah until graduating from high school. She was the Piute County Dairy Queen Princess, Circleville Centennial Queen, and Miss Piute County. She graduated from Piute High School (Class of 1964) and attended Salt Lake Trade Technical Institute in Salt Lake City, taking business courses. She married Boyd Hash in San Diego, California in January, 1965. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti, Utah temple in May, 1967.

She worked for Jordan School District at South Hills Middle School as Attendance Secretary, at Riverton High School as Head Attendance Secretary, and at Elk Ridge Middle School as Head Secretary.

She was an active and devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of her life. She served as Ward Relief Society President, Young Women Counselor, Nursery Leader, Stake Relief Society Board Member and Stake Primary President. She also served in the Jordan River Temple.

Sandra loved being with her family, dancing, camping, hiking, gardening, making porcelain dolls, quilting and oil painting. Many thanks to those who supported Sandra in the things she loved. Special thanks to LaDawn Sorensen, who helped Sandra rekindle her love of painting. We sincerely appreciate the friends that helped Sandra in her final days.

Many thanks to her family who gave all they could to make her comfortable in her final days. They were at her side 24 hours a day when necessary. The nurse practitioner provided palliative comfort care and quality of life beyond what was expected. The nurses and aides from Bristol Hospice were also very diligent caring and kind in her care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Terry J. Smith and David Grover Smith, and grandson, Brady James Allred. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, their five children, Alan Boyd (Andrea) Hash, Tanya Lee (Joe) Isbell, Kristen Alyce (Michael) Kochevar, Cory Richard (Wendy) Hash, and Aleesha Ann (Robert) Allred, 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Wayne Albert Smith and sister Judy (Richard) Clarke.

Friends and family are invited to Sandra's viewing on Friday, November 19 from 6:00-8:00 PM and Saturday, November 20 from 10:00-10:45 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12345 S 2700 W, Riverton, Utah. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM. Interment is at the Riverton City Cemetery, 1540 W 13200 S, Riverton, Utah.

Pall bearers are grandsons, Jayson Isbell, Tanner Isbell, Conner Kochevar, Spencer Kochevar, Cody Hash, Jakon Allred and Zander Allred. -

I am so sorry to hear of Sandra's passing. She was a delightful person, I had many occasion to visit with her at JSD district meetings and discuss our experiences working in the schools. She was always upbeat, willing to share knowledge, and available to help whenever she could. She showed great love for her friends and family. She will be missed.
