Kurt & family,
Aaron wrote the following poem and I wanted to put it in here for you. He indicated that was okay since it was thinking of you and Sandy that he wanted to write something.
Love, Marcia.
Remember Me
by Aaron Adams
Remember during our last days all the things we said
The life we made together since the day we wed.
We talked about the world beyond and what awaits us there
Stories of love of laughter gladly did we share.
Remember me when days get long, your heart aching from within
All the joy you brought to me will fill your soul again.
Know that Heaven waits for you though now is not the time
Years from now your inner beauty still will brightly shine.
I've walked the gardens pathway with flowers like the sea
Smelled the sweetest fragrance left upon the grandest trees.
A wondrous beauty time will no doubt never erase
Love and purity written upon every angelic face.
I've knelt before the one I prayed to during all my years before
Never had I imagined what Heaven held in store.
Tears of joy streamed down my face as I knelt upon the ground
My heart could not express the gratitude my soul had forever found.
So when your grief for me no longer can you bare
Remember those around you, remember those who care.
Remember me as I loved you, but please never forget this fact
I've looked upon the face of Jesus, just remember that.

To the entire Nelson family,
I am so heartbroken about Sandy. As you all know, Sandy is an AMAZING woman! I worked with her in data entry at Vital Records for a few years and am so greatful to have had the chance to sit down and talk with such a kind soul on a daily basis. She taught me so many things like accepting everyone no matter who they were. We were so different in a lot of ways, but became great friends by focusing on our similarities rather than our differences. Sandy had a great laugh and was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone no matter how she was feeling. We lost a great friend but heaven gained a true angel. Peace be with your family.
Best regards

It's been hard to leave an entry here because it is so unbelievable that Sandy is really gone. I want all of you to know how much I truly love your family and how special Sandy always has been to me. I always looked forward to our talks and conversations regarding our children and families. The last time we really sat down and talked was when I was in the middle of a divorce and we went to dinner with Kerrie. Even though she was having her own trials, she was more interested in how I was doing. I missed seeing her at work when I changed jobs but we still stayed in touch. Just wish I could have been able to do more for her and for the whole family. Just always remember that the legacy of her family and her love for others will live on forever. It is more than most of us could even pray to have. It is a legacy that all of you should be proud of. She loved her family and friends more than anything and she showed it every day. If I can do anything, please let me know.

Kurt and Family, I have never met any of you but am amazed at the kindness you showed to us at such a difficult time. I received a call from you just two days before your sweet wife passed away as you were trying to help my new son in law's missionary companion who had flown in from Sweden to surprise him for his wedding. When I first talked to you, I thought that you knew this young man and that he had made arrangements with you to surprise us prior to his leaving Sweden and had no idea that you had just met him as you picked up your son from the airport to be able to see his mother before she passed away. It still brings tears to my eyes when I think of what you so kindly did for us when your focus should have been on your own family at such a difficult time. My own testimony is strengthened from your example. To find out that you opened your home to him to sleep and then brought him to us the next morning, is amazing to me. I am usually pretty perceptive, but I surely could not tell in your voice the sacrifice you were making in taking time away from your family to help us. Thank you for your example of selfless service, forever families and missionary work. You surely helped create a wonderful reunion for these two returned missionaries and strengthened the faith of both of our families and friends. It is very obvious that Sandra was and is a wonderful wife and mother. May the knowledge of eternal families continue to comfort you in the coming days.

I was so sorry to hear of Sandy's passing. I had the privilege of working with Sandy (and Breanna) for many years. She was hardworking, uncomplaining, and always cheerful despite her health struggles. Her strength of character in the face of adversity was a lesson to us all, and I am grateful to have known her. My sincere condolences to the Nelson family.

Patti and I have fond memories of our time in the singles ward where we met you and Sandy. It has been many years since we last met but we want you to know how much we appreciated your kindness and friendship. We remember when you and Sandy helped out at our wedding reception and staffed the guest register. Thank you for all that you and Sandy added to our lives. We are so sorry for your loss but we know that God will sustain you through this trying time. What a blessing it is to know that our family relationships will continue into eternity.

Sandy was the sweetest, most uncomplaining person I ever knew. So often I would go talk to her to find out how she was doing and would end up answering all her questions about ME! I will sorely miss her, but expect she will be coming to meet me when I get promoted. You Nelson family members, let us know if there is anything we can do to make the next few months any easier for you.

Nelson Family,
I am saddened that I was out of town and missed Sandy's funeral. But I had the opportunity to visit Sandy one more time and tell her how much I loved her before she left the suffering and sorrow of this life. I will treasure those few sacred moments with her. She taught me more than I ever had the chance to teach her as her visiting teacher. You as a family have been an example of dignity, faith, and graciousness. Thank you. My life has been changed because of your examples and testimonies.

Sandy was one of my many "moms" in the neighborhood. When I was a teen she taught me how to do calligraphy, and I thought that was so spectacular; I didn't realize until I became a wife and mother what else she had taught me. She was a stunning example for me and now I know it. I visited her just last Friday and she was so positive; I had so much I wanted to tell her but couldn't, I hope she knew what I wanted to say. I love your family so much and I am so thrilled for Sandy to be back "home".

To me, Sandy was the quintessential mother. Her smile endured all challenges and her talents met every task. It all seemed so effortless to her and now I see that she, as messenger of unconditional love, shone like an angel for every of life's occasion. No matter how much time passes, her pure essence will always guide me to love.

Sandy was always so nice to me as I was growing up living in the same neighborhood as the Nelsons. In fact, the entire Nelson family was always welcoming and fun. I will always remember her as a gentle, warm, loving woman.
I am very sorry for your loss. May you find comfort and peace.

The world is a little less bright today . . . I have loved and known your family since Devan and Chase started kindergarten many moons ago. Your wife/mother was one of the truly kindest people I have ever known. What an example of love and selflessness. I feel it an honor and privilege to have known her, and send your family my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy and love. Devan sends his thoughts and prayers as well (via Kaufbeuren, Germany). Much love to all of you.

Tessa and Family I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was and still is like a second mom for me. I grew up with her always there. I will miss her a lot. I know that families are together for ever and she is waiting for you. She will always be here seeing your triumphs and consoling you in your defeats. She is the same guardian angel she was through yours and my entire life. Love and miss you all. "May God Be With Till We Meet Again."

My favorite Sandy memory also encapsulates the essence of Sandy’s character. It was April 2004 and several Moms & Daughters decided to go to Mesquite for Spring Break. Sandy was so excited to share a hidden slot canyon she knew about in St George. Some adventurous souls squeezed through the narrow opening and edged their way along several hundred claustrophobic yards to the end. Sandy knew that once we made our way up and through the narrow rock canyon we would have to figure out how to get back to the parking lot. She scrambled up and over the mountains so that she could meet us at the exit point of the canyon to guide us back to the cars. She greeted us with smiles and congrats on braving the journey and we reveled in the beauty of the vistas around us as she pointed out familiar landmarks. As we scrambled back down the mountain Sandy innocently jumped off a ledge and landed badly. She shook off the pain, thinking she could 'walk it off' but it proceeded to get worse. When we got to the hotel we arranged for a wheel chair and had grand adventures running her around for the rest of our trip. Despite the pain, she never complained and lasting memories were created to share with the GNO girls and their Moms. When Sandy got back to Salt Lake the x-rays confirmed she had broken the ankle.
I'm grateful for Sandy's example and kind spirit. As she did years ago, Sandy has gone ahead and will meet us as we exit from the slot canyon of this life. I think there will be as much fun and adventure in that reunion as there was so many years ago on a mountain ledge in St George.

Dear Nelson Family:
We have fond memories of Sandy and her smile! She was a GRAND carpool partner when the children were young, and a great friend to see at all the school functions through the years. I am grateful to have been the recipient of her testimony of the Gospel on many occasions. She lifted me up!
May our Heavenly Father wrap His arms around you and buoy you up at this time. Remember that Families Are Forever -- She is still with you!

Reasons are unclear why such a kind, compassionate loving mother would be taken from you so soon. Whenever I talked to Sandy she always had hope and looked for the positive. She hung on for you kids, to see you all finish school, serve missions and her 1st grandchild. How lucky she was to share her life with such a wonderful family. She was here for Tessa's graduation and many recognitions, she saw all her children grow up in the gospel and gain testimoies. You are her greatest joy and she is proud of each of you. We pray your family will be blessed with comfort and wonderful memories of the kindest person I knew.

Kurt and family:
It has been a long time Kurt since I have seen you but I remember the early days when you and Sandy were just starting a family and I worked with you at DEQ. So sorry to hear about Sandy and her battle with ovarian cancer. I just recently completed a battle with colon cancer and so far everything looks good but I know what you have been through with your own experience and wish you and your family the best.
