Sandra Willardsen Obituary

Sandra (Sandy) Bain Willardsen

1935 - 2021

Sandra Bain Willardsen, 86, passed peacefully on August 22, 2021, at the Auberge Memory Care Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a nine year

battle with Dementia. She was born February 11,1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Condie Bain and Leah Irene Brower. She was the oldest of three children. William (Bill) Richard Bain, Richard Condie Bain.

Sandy met Monte J. Willardsen, at a choir rehearsal, and they later married in Nevada, September 13, 1954. They had three children, Christy, Debra, and Monte C.

After graduating from South High, Sandy worked as a long distance operator at Ma-Bell Phone Company in Salt Lake City, Utah, and at Paramount Pictures in California. Attended business college. She sang soprano in the South High Choir, and the Salt Lake Symphonic choir. During her time with the the Salt Lake Symphonic choir, there were many years of annual performances she participated in throughout the United States and Canada.

Sandy was a creative artist, enjoyed charcoal drawing, and sculpting. She did a few photo shoots with Leland Photography. We will always remember her flare for fashion; with accessories and jewelry to match! Her choice of sport was tennis.

Choosing to be a stay at home mother, Sandy was very dedicated and supportive. She loved holiday decorating, liked to sew clothing, and her Halloween costumes were a hit at the parties. Sandy was an avid reader, loved puzzles, crocheted, crossed-stitched, and her family loved her cooking. She also volunteered at the elementary school that her children attended. My dad appreciated her secretarial skills to help out with the family's Willardsen Corporation. We can't forget her Avon calling sales job. Thanks mom, for giving your children the foundation to be able to make it on our own.

Family and friends were very important to Sandy. She was very social and carried herself with grace. She was compassionate and cared for others, and was quick to smile.

Sandy is survived by her husband, the best supporter and caregiver, Monte J. Willardsen, daughter, Debra Willardsen Fenstermaker (Brent), son, Monte Christian Willardsen, grandson, Corey Kirkwood, two granddaughters, two great- grandsons, and brother, Richard Condie Bain.

Preceded in death by daughter, Christy Willardsen Kirkwood, and brother, William (Bill) Richard Bain. Sandy was cremated under the care of Serenity Funeral services.

The family would like to give special thanks to the compassionate staff from Senior Helpers and Auberge Assisted and Memory Care Center. So many were dedicated in the care of Sandy, and the family is forever grateful! Her rock was her husband, Thank you dad!

In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider donating to a charity of your choice, or donate to your local blood or plasma bank.

A celebration at Starks Funeral Parlor at a later date. Please check back soon for service details.

When I was fortunate enough to join Salt Lake Symphonic Choir in 1969, Monte Willardsen helped me along the way and in doing so I interacted with Sandy. They made it very easy to not be intimidated by the new level of rehearsals and performances by that magnificent choir, under Armont Willardsen. They made we feel welcome and eased myself into the choir I always wanted to sing in. My deepest condolences to Monte and his family and my thanks to them for teaching me the Symphonic Choir ways.
