SheriAnne Holtry Obituary

SheriAnne Dickerson Holtry
1968 - 2016
SheriAnne Dickerson Holtry, 48, returned to live with her Heavenly Father July 16, 2016. Sheri was born March 6, 1968, in Bountiful, Utah, to Dan and Barbara Dickerson. The youngest of 8 children, Sheri was known for her infectious smile. The room lit up when she entered. Like a magnet, everyone was attracted to her beauty, kindness, caring attitude and consideration for all. She always wanted to look and give her best in life. She had a love for music and could play the piano and several other instruments by ear. Sheri loved the beauties of nature, and tried to capture every moment with her photographs. Sheri was always easy to forgive and had a charitable heart. She loved to be the hostess and loved making desserts. Sheri was spontaneous and adventurous. She was a valiant missionary in Germany and loved the Lord and served Him with all her heart. She always saw the good in everyone and made them feel valued and cherished. Sheri complimented everyone in a genuine and sincere way. When you were around her you wanted to be a better person. She was sealed to Greg Holtry in the Salt Lake Temple. Sheri loved and adored their two daughters, Shelise and Lindsey. She wanted to give them the world. They were everything to her. Sheri will be missed by family and friends.
Sheri is survived by her husband, Greg Holtry and two daughters, Shelise and Lindsey; Dan and Barbara Dickerson; Mitchell Dickerson, Julie Ann Fallon, DaeAnne Hunt, Mark Dickerson, SueZanne Rankin, Matt Dickerson, Monte Dickerson and their families.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing Friday, July 22, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Another viewing will be Saturday, July 23, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. All events will be held at the LDS Chapel, 555 N, Fairfield Rd, (100 E), Kaysville, UT, 84037. Graveside will be at Kaysville Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road.

I was a childhood friend of Sheri in Bountiful. I spent lots of time with her, and loved her piano playing by ear. We would run back and forth thru the orchard to each other's houses. Or ride bikes together. And there was always then-called Rocket Park to play at. Just like her obituary and everyone's comments who knew her as an adult, she was the most beautiful person inside and out from the beginning. So friendly, such a caring person, always giving. I'm sorry to hear she left this life so soon.

It was such a privilege to know Sheri. It was a shock to hear of her death, although I knew she had cancer. I love and miss her so much. She will always hold a place in my heart.

Oh my gosh... I only just found out about Sheri's passing. I met Sheri in the cafeteria of the church office building. As others have said, she lit up the room when she walked in! Not only her beautiful smile, but the way she would engage people in conversation. She made you feel important by the way she treated you. I was not only working for the Church, but was also in the early years of my wedding photography business. When I found out she was engaged, I offered my services. What a beautiful couple, her and Greg! She left FamilySearch and I lost contact with her. I have searched for her a couple of times over the years via Facebook and Google and only just now stumbled onto her obituary. This makes me so sad. I wish I could have reconnected with her before her passing. My heart aches for all those who have felt her loss, most especially her husband and her kids, but honestly, everyone who knew her must feel the same way. My condolences to Greg and the rest of the family.

Until we meet again!

It is really hard to see her gone from this life. She was an amazing person to all who knew her. She was a childhood friend and we rekindled that friendship after her mission. She was so sweet to everyone. I am glad she married a great man. Her family and friends will miss her dearly. My best to the Dickerson family from ours. We love you guys. Contact me on Facebook if you ever need to talk.

I only knew Sheri a very short time. I was the teacher of her daughter, and spent many a time talking with her after school. I almost didn't believe she had such a bad illness because she acted so wonderful, happy, and kind! She was so beautiful, and didn't appear to be sick at all. She was always eager to hear the music in our class, and loved seeing her daughter sing in our program, and always offered to help in any way she could. I will never forget her wonderful smile, kind and loving spirit, and love and devotion she spoke of with her two beautiful children and husband. I'm sure she is loving the music on the "other side" as she did here! The last time I saw her, she brought her 2 lovely daughters back to the school at the end of a year to let them visit and play with us. Much love and blessings to you girls, and family!

Sheri is a beautiful Angel who has blessed every soul she came in contact with. We are connected by my cousin, Angie, who is married to Sheri's brother Matt. Unfortunately, I only had a few interactions with Sheri, through out the years; but when I think of her, I always see one of the kindest souls I have ever met.She is an amazing energy who not only made a huge impact on her loved ones, in a very short time, but will continue to shine through the light of love for all of humanity. Peace and Love to all

Sheri always saw the good in others and always made everyone feel welcome. I have a lot of great memories of her: camping, trip to San Diego, missing the plane, dressing up for Halloween, "Fascinating Girl", walks and talks, brownies, Polka dancing. I will miss her smile and laugh.

SheriAnne is one of the nicest, kind people i've known. Like Darren mentioned, i ran into her last Summer when she had recently found out that her cancer had returned. She was still just as smiley and sweet as every. My favorite memories of her are going to the water park, movies where she would bring freshly baked brownies, celebrating New Years Eve with friends and her talking me into doing a Polka dance for the ward talent show to
"Roll out the Barrels" complete with her dancing in on a rolling barrel!

Condolences to her family she left behind.

I met Sheri (this beautiful angel/spirit) 6 years ago as a complete stranger in Whole Foods Market on 4th South. I was approaching Breast Cancer surgery/treatment and was drawn to energy and smile and commented on her beautiful head wrap. It took off from there. We talked for 45 minutes and she shared everything she could about food, herbs, vitamins, doctors, head wraps, her treatment, etc and wrote down as much as she could on scrap of paper from her purse. I carried that info in my wallet for years. We exchanged phone numbers. It is no coincidence that I just got a new phone and when I was going through my contacts her name popped up just last night. She shared so much and I can not express how positive she was. The energy that radiated from her and the impression she made is so rare. She left her thumb print on a complete strangers heart and I have never forgotten her and I never will. She was and still is a true Earth Angel. We were meant to cross paths and I feel blessed for that.
My heartfelt condolences to her husband, daughters and entire family. What a grand lady. What a magnificent legacy she leaves behind in her beautiful daughters.

"Sister Dickerson" as we know her was such an amazing person. We were living in Bad Kreuzchnach Germany and she was one of the Sister Missionaries assigned to our little American Serviceman's Branch. Everyone in the Branch loved Sister Dickerson, including our family. And we had cause to love her! Her companion was hospitalized with appendicitis and so she came to stay at our home for a week and became MY companion that week. To this day I use her as an example in my life on kindness, cheerfulness, service and happiness. It was funny that week she was with us, at first I was annoyed with her cheerfulness. I mean, she would smile and say hello to EVERY SINGLE PERSON we passed. She would rush to help anyone with small children or struggling with a cart or bag at the commissary (grocery store), no matter what she was so cheerful. But, I soon lost my annoyance with her for being so cheerful and found myself smiling and helping others too. It was hard not to pick up her attitude of happiness.

Back then, the Sisters could babysit. Her and her companion would often come and watch my 4 children for me. I remember returning home to a clean house and she would always be making cookies with my kids. They all loved her so.

Another funny story. She came to our home one day and had a dress on that was the exact copy of a dress my young daughter had. My daughter was so excited to "look like Sister Dickerson" as she loved and looked up to her!

Sister Dickerson would paint flowers on all her things: books, telephone, etc with bright pink nail polish. She loved to brighten up things.

Well these are just a very few of our memories of dear Sister Dickerson. To her family: We are so sorry for your loss. May you be comforted at this time. And please know she is always in our hearts! Sincerely, Rebecca Reschke

I will miss this dear friend. Sheri and I reconnected a few years ago when she brought her adorable girls to my dance class. At first we didn't recognize each other. But I could never forget those sparkling eyes and her sweetness. It has been a privilege to teach Shelise and Lindsey. They both reflect the beauty and goodness of their mother.

Sheri was a great person and also a lot of fun. We met at her family reunion when I was going to BYU. Her uncle was married to my great aunt from Canada. She walked right up to me and put her arm in mine and pronounced herself my cousin. We used to drive around, preferably in my Ford Fairlane because Sheri was quite a fast driver! We decided to get braces at the ripe old ages of 28 and 29. Our main concern those days was finding husbands. Sheri had many suitors and I would say, " well what is wrong with him?" and she'd reply, " It just isn't right," but she was very happy when she did finally meet the right person. Sheri gave me support and helped me keep my faith during a tough time. She was pure hearted, very strong and never judgmental. My heart goes out to her husband, daughters, her parents and the rest of her family.

SheriAnne was a joy. We grew up in the same ward, and she was always smiling, and her smile seemed to reach beyond her person to those surrounding her. She was always kind. She was always sincere. What a wonderful spirit Sheri has. She is the kind of person you meet once in a lifetime. Her ability to show genuine concern about others was truly rare. I was also going through cancer treatment when she was struggling with her illness. Even though she was not feeling well, she took time to offer support to me and my family during our difficult times. She thought of others long before she considered her own needs. Her example of charity has had such a profound impact on me. She will be missed but never forgotten. I wish this world had more Sheris.

We lost the angel of BHS, and right before our reunion. She exuded life worth living and lit up the souls of those around her. Heaven's gain, our temporary loss. Who more exemplified the Lord's command to be as our little children.

I didn't know Sheri well - I only attended the same high school. But, I remember her. She was this amazing, lovely creature. I remember wondering how anyone could be so kind, so happy and so genuine in her treatment of others. But, she was. She was a beautiful soul.

Sheri was so shy in high school, but full of life and joy. I had a crush on her. I so wanted to try to help Sheri sing her solo "My Country 'Tis of Thee" in choir class, but I was too shy myself to step forward and coach her. I've thought about that day a lot and regret not doing it. Tried to find Sheri after my mission to go on a date, but she was already on her mission :). I last seen Sheri 10 years ago with her newborn -- she was so happy! I hope her little girls will forever cherish and honor their dear angel mother. She will be missed, but her loving impact to this world will be forever.

I ran into Sheri a few years ago and we talked for over an hour. I still remember coming away from that conversation feeling uplifted and wanting to be a better person. Sheri had that effect on people. I admired her courage and positive attitude. I have a lot of good memories of her and the "Bountiful Posse". Look forward to seeing you again one day.
