Steven Gibbs Obituary

Steven J. Gibbs

1947 ~ 2023

- St. George, UT – Our loving father, husband, and grandfather, Steven J. Gibbs, unexpectedly returned home to his Heavenly Father on January 29th, 2023.

Steve was born on October 19th, 1947 in Richfield, UT to Manton Gibbs and Flora James Gibbs. They lived in Marysvale and later relocated to Holladay where Steve began a lifelong love of cars and motorcycles working in his dad's auto body shop. Growing up he was a very active athlete and a proud graduate of Olympus High School.

On October 28th, 1965 he married Patricia Ann Evans. Shortly after he was drafted to the US Army where he served honorably in the Vietnam War. Patti and Steve had 7 children together, and they later divorced.

After focusing on raising his kids, he found the love of his life on the other side of the world in the Philippines. He married Rosario Alejo Saludo on June 7, 2013. They were looking forward to celebrating their 10 year wedding anniversary.

Steve's greatest joy was being a father and a grandfather. Family was everything to him, who he always put first. He loved throwing pool parties and BBQs to get everyone together. He also loved watching Westerns, politics, and cheering for the 49ers, and if he could do those with his family all the better.

Steve was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and of our Savior.

Steve is survived by his 10 children, Mary (Jeremy) Whitehouse, Bob (LoriAnn) Gibbs, Lucy Lance, Sue (Matt) Cragun, Jimmy (Mandy) Gibbs, Stephanie (Ben) Hughes, Amy (Trevor) Woodbury, Nestor (Winnie) Maloles, Ferdinand Maloles, and Juliet Maloles. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, and older brother Manton Gibbs Jr. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at the LDS Ward Chapel located at 4917 S. Viewmont Street, Holladay, Utah, with a viewing held prior to the service from 9:00 -10:45 am.
