Diane,
I am saddened to hear of Steve's passing. He was a remarkable guy, truly one of the funniest athletes I've ever been around. It was a blessing to know him at West Lake Jr. and to spend time with both of you at CEU 1971-72. The Lord bless you and your family with the two great losses this year. Rob McCleve

Diane and Boys,
Your family meant the world to me and still does. Butterfield Circle was never the same when you moved. I enjoyed my conversations with Steve about fishing, sports, trucks, the Jets and his family. I loved that man and had a deep respect for him. Please keep in touch and let me know if you need anything.

I will always think of Steve whenever I hear "Fleetwood Mac". He had great taste in music, decor, and gifts for his beloved wife. I will miss you Steve. Thank you for being a second "daddy" for my daughter, who married Andy shortly after her own daddy's passing.

To the Sortor family. Steve and I worked at Creasey Catering together since 1976. We parked next to each other for many happy years! We had A lot of fun talking about stuff like Fishing at scofield. Steve was funny and had A great sense of humor. He sure loved his boys and his beautiful wife Diane. Steve liked to talk about college at CEU and playing basketball. He was A great guy and I will miss him dearly. Please tell me if there is anything I can do! Dale Swindell

Steve, Mitch Lunak and myself were best friends in High School; one of the few men who ever told me he loved me and I loved him. He was funny and a great athlete, one of the best I've known in thirty five years as a high school coach. Diane, I am so sorry. I will be there tommorrow.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of my friend Steve Sortor. I've known Steve since elementary school. Not surprised to learn that Steve was born August 23, 1953. The implication being that he was always the big, raw, youngest kid in his class. It was significant and helped form his competitive drive and determination. It is an enduring memory I have of him. He was very talented but his greatest strength in athletics was his ability to improve every year. He went from being cut in 8th grade, to the best player in high school (along with Dave Crumpley), to a star in college. I always admired Steve as a teammate and later as a competitor. If there is such a thing as an “All-Heart” team, Steve is on it. It felt like a reunion every time our paths crossed. My deepest respect and sympathy to Diane and the rest of Steve's family.
