Stuart Wagstaff Obituary

Stuart F. Wagstaff 1936 ~ 2008 Stuart F. Wagstaff, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2008.Stu was born on June 5, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fred and Margaret Wagstaff (Berryman). Stu married Donna Ash on April 23, 1955 and together they recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Stuart lost his leg in a train accident at the age of nine years old. He never let this disability limit him; becoming a strong swimmer and an Eagle Scout. Stu enjoyed auto mechanics for his entire life and retired from Granite School District, where he worked with many friends on maintaining the school buses. Stuart was very proud of his affiliation with the Ute Radio Control Association of SLC and enjoyed building and flying his planes with his close friends, as often as he could. Stu loved the outdoors and took great pleasure in fishing, hunting and boating with his family. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Archie Berryman, brother, Phillip Dale Wagstaff and father, Fred Wagstaff. Stu is survived by his wife, Donna Ash Wagstaff, mother, Margaret Berryman, brother, Ronald (Karma) Wagstaff, sister, Helen (Harold) Davis, sister-in-law, Mary Wagstaff, children, Debbie (Fred) Leon, Sherry Hardman, Diane Diaz, Shirley Wagstaff, and Scott Wagstaff; four grandchildren, Monica Diaz (Jon) Greene, Dustin Leon, Zac Martinez and Brittany Martinez; great-grandchild, Dominic Guanuna; and adopted family Leroy Martinez and Ken, Tammy, and Nick Hansen. Funeral services for Stu will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may visit with the family from 1:45-2:45 p.m. prior to the services.
