Terry Dee Snarr
1948 - 2024
- Our beautiful mother and grandmother, Terry Dee Snarr, passed away on December 3, 2024, in South Jordan, Utah, at the age of 76. Born on September 17, 1948, in Everett, Washington, Terry was the daughter of the late Darrell T. McCarroll and late Wilma C. Siebrasse McCarroll Searle.
Terry's life was a vibrant tapestry of creativity and love. As a young girl, Terry and her family moved from Everett, Washington, to Juneau, Alaska, where her father ran the first Coca-Cola bottling plant in the state. They lived there for a couple of years, an experience she often spoke about with fondness. The family later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, during her early teenage years. It was during this time that she and her sister discovered and pursued their shared passion for dance.
Terry and her sister Jeryne danced with the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, traveling across the United States to perform. One of the highlights of her time with the group was dancing at the World's Fair in Seattle, Washington, in 1962. Terry also attended Highland High School in Salt Lake City.
In 1969, Terry married Guy Kenneth Snarr in Santa Clara, California. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Travis and Brandon. Terry's dedication to her children and family was unparalleled. She instilled in her sons the values of kindness, perseverance, and creativity-traits that also guided her professional and personal endeavors.
Terry held several roles with the state, including positions with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS). She later followed her heart and opened her own floral shop, The Tulip Tree Floral, in Taylorsville, Utah. Later in life, she found her ultimate calling as a grandmother, a role that brought her immense joy. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren, whether through supportive talks, sleepovers, sports, crafts, building forts, exchanging Christmas gifts, or cooking for them using skills she honed in culinary school.
Terry's life was forever changed in December 1993 when she lost her first-born son, Travis, in a tragic automobile accident. Despite this profound loss, she showed remarkable resilience, finding ways to continue and rediscover joy in life.
Terry was blessed with an extraordinary group of lifelong friends known as "The Hens," a close-knit circle of six women who shared countless memories. Together, they enjoyed vacations, sleepovers, dinners, poolside chats, gossip, pep talks, and support through health battles, some won and some lost. Thank you to The Hens for being such a significant part of Terry's life.
Terry is survived by her children Brandon & Heidi Snarr, grandchildren Camden and Ashton Snarr, and her niece Marnie Watson.
She was preceded in death by her son Travis Snarr; her parents, Darrell T. McCarroll and Wilma Searle; Wilma's second husband Charles Searle (chick); her mother-in-law Evelyn Snarr; her sister and best friend Jeryne Webb; her niece Darcy Assaf; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and members of The Hens.
The family would like to thank Sagewood Assisted Living Center in Daybreak. Although her time there was brief, the amount of love and care she received is much appreciated.
A celebration of Terry's life will be held in an open-house style (with a brief moment of remembrance) on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Online condolences may be shared at
