Virginia Holmes McHenry 1922 ~ 2011 Virginia Holmes McHenry, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away at home on June 19, 2011.Virginia was born April 10, 1922 in Murray, Utah to George Arthur Holmes and Amelia Iverson. She married Lynn Jay McHenry on November 14, 1941. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 14, 1943. She lived a long and full life, devoted to her family and her faith. Jay and Virginia were members of High Steppers. They enjoyed dancing, golf and travel, visiting many countries throughout the world. She was an avid and skilled bridge player, still winning the prizes in the last weeks of her life. The highlights of her life were her children and grandchildren. Even as her health declined, Virginia remained active, determined, and independent. Her son Robert's companionship and care was a great source of comfort. Virginia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Above all, she was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Virginia is survived by her children Joel (LeeAnn) and Robert and two grandchildren Tyler (Megan) and Richard. She was preceded in death by her husband and sisters Florence Nielsen and Margaret Wheat. Funeral services will be held Sat. June 25th 12:00 p.m. at the Little Cottonwood 16th Ward, 6350 S. Rodeo Lane. Friends may call at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services.
