RANDALL DARR Obituary

RANDALL CLYDE DARR Passed away August 31, 2011 from brain cancer. He was 53 years old. Randy was born and raised in West Covina, CA, where he lived for 28 years, then moved to the High Desert for 10 years, and finally to his favorite fishing place, Lake Nacimiento, near Paso Robles, Calif. He lived there for 15 years in a beautiful recreational community called "Christmas Cove". Most of that time he lived with his faithful companion, "Chase", a white Labrador Retriever. Randy was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, involved in hazardous waste petroleum disposal. Randy's most exceptional talent was his ability to make people laugh. His many friends & family will miss his good humor, quick wit, and his generosity and fun-loving nature. Randy was an outdoor sportsman, and an avid fisherman. He loved being outdoors and observing wildlife and nature in all its beauty. He enjoyed taking young people out on the lake in his aluminum boat, and teaching them all the tricks of how to catch the "big one". He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Darr of Apple Valley; son Dallas Darr and daughter-in-law, Lisa; their son, Dylan Darr, Randy's only grandchild. Randy was very proud of his little grandson, Dylan, and looked forward to the time that he could go fishing with him. He also is survived by his son Derek Darr and daughter-in-law, Helen; a brother, Jeff Darr and sister-in-law, Carla; sisters Claudia Darr and Janice Cua; and seven nephews and nieces, many extended family members and friends, including his life-long friend, Larry Thompson. Randy would want to thank those members of his family who stood by his side during this last year and especially his nephew, Jeffrey Darr, who was his "buddy" when he went through radiation and chemotherapy. He would also want to thank all those loyal friends who visited him regularly during his illness, some driving over 250 miles to do so. He loved and appreciated those visits. Our special thanks to Elizabeth Hutchinson, a family friend, who was always there when we needed her. Also, many thanks to The Visiting Nurses Association of Inland County, Riverside, CA. Donations to this organization would be appreciated.

We will have many great memories and stories to tell our son as he grows. We know how much he loved his family and especially his grandson. Dylan loves looking at pictures of them together his grandpas favorite book as a child, "The biggest bear", which he gave to him. We miss him everyday, but have comfort that he is not in pain and is in heaven watching all of us. We love you! Dallas, Lisa, and Dylan Darr

My father was a great dad, he was always there to help me when I asked. I have so many great memories that I'll never forget such as, our all night cat fishing with blankets and a lantern and 1000's of dead bugs, the time Dad, Dallas and I sat out on the Dock in the water to fish and Dallas got cold and took off early taking the boat (wuss), out shooting him and Dallas with the Rifle when the previous year made fun of me for not shooting the Shotgun, the lizard catching war when I won one of his Knives. Reeling in the Shark sized Catfish and us jumping in the water to walk it up the shoreline so the line wouldn't break, fishing one the lake baking in the hot sun on the boat all day, haha the Day the New Lure I brought proved his skills wrong, the time we saw a Turkey and yelled out MEOW and they came to the shore and I made fun of him saying you hunt that stupid bird? Him teaching Dallas and I to drive that White Jeep (manual) up a steep hill, getting us a little Dirt bike and all the times we went off roading, drinking out on the boat for the 4th of July.

What breaks my heart is knowing the memories stop there.

I love you dad and with 2 Tattoo's in your Honor I wont forget you.

Randy came into our lives several years back and we considered him part of our family. We loved him dearly and miss him every day. He was so special to us and he will forever be in our hearts. Randy was with both myself and my son when we shot our first deer and he spent lots of time taking all of us fishing. Summers without Randy will never be the same...life without Randy will never be the same. We love you Randy!! Steve, Karen, Megan & Justin Haley

Lorraine I know that this was definitely the hardest thing you have ever experienced. I hope that you are okay and please know that Randy is now at peace and no longer has to endure anymore pain. He is with his Dad now so he isn't alone. Randy was very lucky to have you by his side during everything he went thru. You are a wonderful Mother.

Darr Family,
I have many, many special memories of Randy. I remember how he would come knocking on the door, "Can Larry play?" From the time Randy and Larry were born, just a few days apart, they played together as toddlers, started school, Little League, etc. They also spent hours playing in our backyard and at the Darr pool. Randy gave our family many other memories that I cherrish. My thoughts and prayers are with All of the Darr family.
Love,
Mary Bell
