Perry
Barbara Nevitt age 63, of Perry died on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads Church in Perry. Visitation will be Friday, November 29, 2013 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Association and may be left at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
Barbara Jean Nevitt was born on June 30, 1950 at Des Moines, IA to Welby M. and Phyllis Jean (Westerlund) Apple. She attended Hillis Elementary school and graduated from Earlham High School. She also attended Patricia Steven Airline Training College in Chicago. Then she was hired by American Fliers Airline before graduating. She was united in marriage to Robert Dean Nevitt on April 25, 1970. Barb held her career in Real Estate for 30 years. She began at Heenan Realty and then eventually bought the business and managed it for 10 years.
Barb was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dexter. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and especially watching her grandchildren's sporting events.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Nevitt, Perry, IA, son, Robert "Rob" Nevitt, Perry, IA, daughter, Heather (Adam) VanLin, Ankeny, IA, 3 brothers, Larry (Joan) Apple, Maryville, MO, Kirk (Jan) Apple, Earlham, IA, Bill (Sue) Apple, Des Moines, IA, grandchildren, Jordan, Kyle, and Kacy Nevitt and Irish Apple VanLin, and aunt Marne Harris and a step sister Darcey Paullin.
