Brent McGrean Obituary

Brent William McGrean

Altoona

Brent William McGrean passed away October 17, 2017. A Celebration of life for Brent will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, IA. Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Altoona Regular Baptist Church, 803 3rd Avenue SW, Altoona, IA. Graveside service will immediately follow at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells, IA.

Brent was born August 20, 1977 in Des Moines, IA to William and Barbara McGrean. He attended South East Polk High School and graduated in 1995. He went on to take basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia, with the Army. He received his Associate and Bachelor degree from the School of Phoenix where he graduated with top honors in the top four percent of his class.

Brent was a member of several old car clubs and loved to work on engines, tearing them apart and rebuilding them. The harder the challenge the better. He put his degree to good use and fixed computers for people. He was an avid gardener and grew huge tomato plants.

His companion and best friend was his black lab/pitbull named "Pippitt", who he rescued from the Animal Rescue League. He trained her to do all sorts of tricks and obedience commands. She was his pride and joy.

Brent is survived by his parents, William and Barbara McGrean of Altoona; sister, Beth (Kenny) Schmitz of Hartford, IA; niece and nephew, Ashley and Randy Schmitz; "adopted" brother, Ron DeJoode; and longtime friend, Lora Reneau of Tennessee. He loved them all very much.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Altoona Police Department for their love and support in taking care of Brent. A special thank you also to Pastor and Angie Humburg for their kindness and support. And to everyone for all their thoughts and prayers.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Brent. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

There are no words to express my feelings. Just know i send my love, deepest condolences, and prayers to everyone, including myself. He was one of a kind. He always knew what to say to pick me up, always pushed me to be the best i can be. I'll always hold him close. He was my best friend and I'll love him forever. Until we meet again
