Carla provided a friendly smile and an encouraging word whenever I ran across her at her church. I was amazed when she was able to come and hear her final AUMC Christmas production. By her demeanor, I would never have guessed she had only weeks left before she would pass from this world to the next.

We lived in Altoona and moved away but always remained friends with Nancy and the whole HIghfill family. Carla was always so happy & bubbly. She always made you feel at home. Carla laughed a lot and made others laugh too.

Carla and I grew up together along with several other girls and were Girl Scouts with Eddie Shearer as leader. She will be missed by all.

I'm so glad I had a chance to get to know this wonderful woman! She extended friendship and kindness to all she met. We may have been kindred spirits - she told me she could tell I was a democrat because I looked so smart! Sending peace and hugs to our extended Highfill family.
