Charles Celsi Obituary
West Des Moines
Charles Joseph Celsi, 82, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed into the hands of our Lord, peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 22, 2015.
Charles was the son of Antonio and Lucrezia Celsi, Italian immigrants. He is survived by his wife Patricia, brother Frank (Ellen), sister Ann DeMarco (Louis) and children from his first marriage: Tony (Cathy), Randy, Brenda Veasman (Pat), Robert, Krista Celsi-Frank (Gary) and Ron (Amy), as well as a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Charles' long and wonderful life included graduating from Lincoln High School and later Drake University. He had a successful career in banking, real estate, and restaurant entrepreneurship. Civic minded, Charles dutifully served in the U.S. Navy, and enabled positive change for his community through service on the West Des Moines City Council, Civil Service Commission, Rotary Club, and as president of The Society of Italian Americans. He was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church with a special devotion to Saint Padre Pio. Charles loved his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, birds and the card games of pitch and cribbage. He was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 1627 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines, with Rosary following at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, at the church. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made in Charles Celsi's name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

I only knew Chuck as a customer of the Apple Store, but he was always friendly and gracious to me. I am sad to hear of his passing. May The Lord bless the extended Celsi family.
