Charles Anthony Guthrie,60,of Cedar Rapids departed this life peacefully at home on Friday October 17, 2014.He was born February 5, 1954 in Marshalltown, IA to Mildred and Willie B. Guthrie."Tony" as he was fondly called by family and friends was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with friends and his beloved family.Those left to mourn him include his first wife Brenda Leonard,wife Edith,five children: Shawn Leonard and Chante Barnes of Cedar Rapids. Jeremy, Anthony and Amber Polson of Des Moines. Seven grandchildren: Braxton and Anthony Leonard and Savion Barnes of Cedar Rapids. Emilee, Kaden, Davonte and Alexia of Des Moines.Tony is also survived by six brothers and sisters: Carolyn Simmons, Regina Banks, Arnell Guthrie, Trudy Guthrie, Frank Guthrie and Robert Guthrie of Cedar Rapids. Along with a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, William Guthrie and two sisters, Donna R. Guthrie and Priscilla Guthrie.The Celebration of his life will be held at 12:30 P.M Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the African American Museum of Iowa 55 12th Ave SE Cedar Rapids,IA 52401 He will be greatly missed.
