Edward LeRoy "Red" Brown, 75, died peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Altoona, surrounded by his family. In agreement with Edward's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services held at this time. A private memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Edward was born on June 25, 1933 in Albia, IA to Edmond R. and Clara B. (Davis) Brown. He married Norma Jean Bracewell and to this union, two children were born: Kathi and Tom. Edward lived most of his life in Des Moines, where he had retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company after 36 years.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Norma J. Brown; children, Kathi (Mark) Willenborg and Tom Brown; three brothers, Art, Richard and Bob Brown; and one granddaughter, Amanda Willenborg. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Flynn and Shirley Gordon.
